HR Specialist
Position Overview
Provide support for all functions of Human Resources for Shaw's 6 local sites, including but not limited to associate safety, staffing, benefits, employee relations, community outreach and general employment. This position is critical in helping to build competitive advantage, creating a great place to work, hiring and developing the best people, providing outstanding service every time, and making the business better.
Primary Responsibilities:
Act as a liaison between HR, management, and associates
Along with the HR Manager, facilitate the development/revision of Job Descriptions/Job Postings to ensure that all positions meet the needs of the hiring managers and the business objectives of the organization
Work with managers across all facilities to acquire high caliber and qualified candidates that will meet our business objectives and bring long-term value to our organization
Ensure all hiring policies, procedures and techniques are adhered to and recommend improvements (i.e. offer approval forms, background checks, screenings)
Responsible for updating and maintaining the job posting system
Under the direction of the HR manager, ensure that the hiring and onboarding process is executed from end-to-end for all positions.
In collaboration with the HR Manager, execute the onboarding of new hires and track their progress through the 90-day introductory period
Build Driver Qualification files for all CDL positions
Assist associates with benefits questions and oversees associate enrollment processes
Work with the HR Manager to assist with employee relation issues and investigations.
Provide analyst support for Savannah campus including recruitment, hiring, turnover, attendance, engagement, associate relations
Oversee transitional duty program and maintains contact with associates on LOA
Coordinate Driver and Spotter bonuses
Lead community outreach programs and serves or leads commitees as directed
Maintain personnel records from onboarding, to separation, and records retention
Conduct all exit interviews, follow up on concerns, document information, analyze data and trends, offer suggestions to improve associate experience
Responsible for submitting timely unemployment claims responses to Talx
Provide additional support to the HR department as needed
Position Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED
2 + years of HR-related experience
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all levels of an organization
Proficient with Google App, MS Word, PowerPoint, and MS Excel including strong proficiency with pivot tables
Maintains a high level of confidentiality; ability to respond to sensitive inquiries
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a high level of complexity
Excellent listening skills and strong interpersonal communication skills
Comfortable negotiating a dynamic environment across different business models, and demonstrates flexibility to meet customer needs
Results and process-oriented
Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives
Exceptional customer service orientation
Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Preferred Skills:
2 years of experience in Talent Acquisition/Hiring functions or Employee relations and investigations
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in HR
