Global Science & Technology, Inc (GST), a growing scientific and high technology company, is seeking a HR Specialist to support the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR).
This position is located in College Park, MD, but is temporarily approved for a hybrid schedule of onsite and telework.
Position Summary:
GST is seeking an experienced individual to join our team in support of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR). The HR Hiring Specialist will assist our client in recruitment and hiring processes for the federal government.
Primary Duties:
The HR Specialist will be a team player and function well working across multiple areas and on a variety of recruitment and hiring tasks. The Specialist will coordinate with the STAR Administrative Officer and Budget Director on NESDIS related policies and procedures, along with other duties to be defined. The Specialist will be involved in activities like collecting and evaluating annual and recurring division staffing requirements, processing federal billets, tracking hiring status, and ensuring that job announcements have all necessary language to implement required terms and conditions. In addition to the primary focus on recruitment and new hire processing, the job may involve support for HR projects focused on employee promotions and awards.
Good communication skills are key to success in this role. Attention to detail, good time management, competency with Microsoft and Google product suites. Smartsheet experience is highly desirable. Understanding of government hiring processes is a significant plus. Experience developing and managing project and action trackers. Developing SOPs and guidance for hiring managers. Workforce planning, staffing plans, and organization chart tracking and updating experience.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
The position requires a minimum of 16 years of relevant experience in Human Resources management focused on workforce planning, hiring and recruitment in government - preferably federal - bureaucracies.
Advanced degrees from an accredited institution and/or professional credentials from a recognized entity may be substituted for experience.
