Houston Chronicle Photo Internship

　　The Houston Chronicle is looking for motivated student journalists who plan to pursue a career in journalism for its summer 2024 internship program. Based in Texas, the Houston Chronicle is a Hearst newspaper in the nation's fourth largest city. Houston is also one of the country's most diverse cities.

　　Visual journalism interns will complete their internship on the visuals desk. Duties include producing visuals for news, sports, features and business, as well as slice-of-life spot features. No two days on the visuals desk are the same, and interns will be expected to apply their skills to each assignment in a way that best shows each story.

　　Interns are encouraged to visually tell stories beyond just photos (video, social media, etc.) Interns are responsible for the production of visuals, editing, writing captions and, if needed, some reporting.

　　Qualifications:

　　Junior, senior, or recent graduate with a strong passion for visual storytelling. Experience in journalism through college, newspaper, magazine, or website contributions. Valid driver's license and completion of upper-level journalism courses. Impressive portfolio: Submit 7 photo clips, a concise 2-page resume, and a compelling cover letter (500 words or less, addressed to the recruiting committee) outlining your enthusiasm for visual journalism and your vision for this role. Proficiency in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese is preferred but not mandatory.Internship Details:

　　Duration: 10 weeks, starting early June and concluding in early August. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend coverage based on news demands. Location: On-site in Houston, Texas. Technology: Interns must have access to a personal laptop with WiFi or hotspot capabilities for occasional off-site visual submissions.
