About Homeless Engagement Counselor (Master's level)

  Description

  $3,000 Sign-on BonusEliot's Homeless Services Division is seeking a strengths based/trauma informed clinician to support homeless individuals within a multidisciplinary team consisting of engagement specialists, case managers, and peer/recovery coaches in the Metro Boston area of the Commonwealth. The successful candidate will have unwavering compassion and empathy - along with a demonstrated commitment to social justice, person centered planning and practice, and multidisciplinary collaboration across various service elements.

  Evidence Based training and practice opportunities include expressive arts, multi-sensory, mindfulness/yoga, EMDR, ARC, cognitive restructuring certification, and motivational interviewing.

  Excellent benefits package includes reimbursement for independent licensure testing and renewal, national and local conferences, weekly group and individual supervision toward licensure, and other opportunities for professional and personal growth.

  Responsibilities

  Perform outreach and engagement activities to identify and support homeless people living in public places, drop in centers, meal sites, and shelters

  Provide tangible supports such as warm clothing, blankets, and food/supplies to reduce risk

  Make relevant referrals to address identified treatment needs and preferences of the person served - follow up as appropriate

  Maintain a thorough/current knowledge of local public and private resources around housing/support services.

  Maintain positive and productive relationships with community organizations and stakeholders (Department of Mental Health/Department of Public Health)

  Complete biopsychosocial assessments to assist with DMH eligibility process

  Salary: $55k annually

  Bilingual rate is 6% increase in salary, in needed language area.

  Schedule: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm , with some opportunity for flexibility with schedule

  Location: Community based work with an office in Boston. Main Catchment area would cover Chelsea and East Boston. Car is not required, however, proficiency with public transportation is a must. The team will provide a monthly T pass. Mileage reimbursement available if you are driving.
