This position is covered by the Partnership Agreement between the State ofColorado and Colorado Workers for Innovative and New Solutions (COWins).

CDOT has a vacancyfor a Highway Maintenance Specialist in Granada, CO and will provide trainingto obtain your CDL.
CDL Permit required - This position requires that you currently have a validCDL Permit and that you obtain your CDL Class A or B with no restrictions onairbrakes within 6 months of hire as a condition of continued employment. Thisposition will require a DOT drug test as a pre-employment step.
Total annual compensation for this position is $50,820 ($50,820 base pay).
The starting salary for this position is $1954.62/biweekly ($50,820/annually).There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Description of JobWhat You Will DoNo two days are exactly the same in CDOT highway maintenance. Your daily workactivities change based on project needs and also vary based on weather,environment, and road conditions. You will be on-call on a rotating basis aswell as subject to call to respond to weather and other emergencies. You willtypically work in a team environment, as each maintenance patrol location hasat least one lead highway maintenance specialist and multiple highwaymaintenance specialists. Your main job activities include:
Plowing snowOperating heavy equipment, such as tandem dump truck, loader, tractor mower,etc.Mowing grass and weedsRemoving debris from roadways, including rock, mud, and deceased animalsRemoving debris from culverts, tunnels, etc.Shoveling gravel, sand, concrete, and asphaltDigging ditchesInstalling and repairing guardrail, highway markers and signs, warning signs,and lightingFilling potholes and roadway cracksSetting out signs and cones for traffic controlRemoving and covering graffitiInstalling pavement markings/stripingStopping or slowing traffic in emergency situationsMaintaining equipment and performing minor repairsFollowing safety guidance and wearing proper safety equipment
