NORTHAMPTON TEMPORARY POSITION - JUNE 28-AUGUST 5 Health AssistantResponsible for assisting in administering a complete health and safetyprogram for Smith College precollege program students and staffconsistent with Massachusetts\' Department of Health, Smith College, andHealth Care Plan approved by local medical practice. This is a 5.5-weekposition, running June 28 - August 5, 2023, with 35-40 hours per week.Evening and weekend coverage is required. The hourly rate ranges from\$17-\$20 and is commensurate with experience. Minimum Qualifications:Nursing Assistant/CNA or EMT required. Current First Aid and CPRcertification; experience in a medical field; experience in a medicalfacility preferred. Minimum Education: High school diploma orequivalent. Essential Job Functions: Ensure the health and safety ofprecollege students and staff following established program policies andprocedures and the CDC. Create and maintain an emotionally andphysically safe health service environment for students and staff.Maintain Health Forms and other health-related documents throughSchoolDoc for students and staff. Log all treatment to students andstaff daily. Uphold patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.Perform first aid and dispense medications under the guidance of thesigned Standing Orders or original prescription mandate. Pass pertinentstudent health information to the appropriate staff before studentarrival and as needed throughout the program. Ensure that allprescriptions and medicines are properly labeled and locked in themedicine cabinet or refrigerator. Maintain first aid kits and logs foron campus, field trips and any other location that is deemed necessaryand appropriate, with weekly upkeep and replenishment. Maintain clearcommunication across shifts with the Health Supervisor. Adhere topractices in completing incident reports. Facilitate emergency medicalissues with initial medical assessment and triage. Set a good examplefor students and staff. Be a positive role model in terms ofresponsibility, sportsmanship, punctuality, respecting the environment,cleanliness, and manners. Participate in staff meetings and training,where applicable.
