JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Abington is seeking a full-time 10-month Head Women's Soccer Coach to administer all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III soccer program. This position is responsible for the organization, development, and leadership of the Penn State Abington varsity women's soccer team in support of the mission and core values of the Athletic Department/University. The Head Women's Soccer Coach collaborates with numerous athletic and University units and demonstrates adherence to University, conference, and NCAA Division III rules and regulations. The Head Coach will also serve as a game manager for selected athletic department events during the fall and winter sports seasons.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Identify, recruit and retain qualified student-athletes
Hire and supervise part-time Assistant Coaches
Establish a competitive schedule
Plan team travel
Coordinate practice plans to foster skill development
Mentor student-athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotional, and social growth
Oversee development initiatives; manage budgets, design coaching strategies to prepare team for competition
Establish and enforce rules of conduct; support community service efforts
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity
Collaborate with athletic and University units to include admissions, financial aid, medical services, academic support, student-athlete services, compliance office
Plan and execute team fundraisers to support the needs of the program
Demonstrate adherence to University, United East , and NCAA rules and regulations, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree or higher plus a minimum of 3 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree plus intercollegiate coaching experience; experience as a head coach, demonstrated knowledge of all phases of the game is preferred.
This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required. This is an 83.3% full-time equivalency (FTE) job. Will work from August through May each year (months off subject to change). Full Penn State benefits included. Requires CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. Must have flexibility to work evenings, weekends, travel with team and holidays.
