Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Head Track Coach to join our team! The ideal candidate should have a passion for track and field, as well as a working knowledge of coaching and developing athletes. We are looking for someone who is willing to go the extra mile to help our team reach their full potential. This part-time, seasonal position serves as the Head Track Coach of the City of Baytown Youth Summer Track Program. The Head Track Coach organizes, coaches, conducts practices, motivates and instructs the athletes in the program.
Duties
Plans, develops and implements the track program in accordance with TAAF (Texas Amateur Athletic Federation) and Hershey's league policies and procedures.
Trains, instructs and supervises athletes in a variety of track skills and techniques; teaches rules, conduct and safety; provides a variety of guidance, instruction and experience to enhance athletes personal, physical and social growth and development.
Plans and conducts regularly scheduled practice sessions.
Coaches and supervises athletes during track meets.
Supervises and assigns assistant track coaches; conducts coaching meetings; evaluates and improves track program.
Coordinates a variety of scheduling, including transportation, practice facilities, and registration.
All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Valid State of Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days)
First Aid and CPR certified
Track & Field Experience
Demonstrated prior supervisory Experience
PREFERRED:
Bachelors' degree from an accredited college or university
Two years directly related experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Motivational, effective communication, behavior management skills with the ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public. Track coaching techniques, be familiar with track rules and regulations.
Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform needed services.
Overall Position Strength Demands
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
