About Head of Product Launch, Amazon Robotics Customer Experience Team

  Description

  We are seeking a talented and motivated Head of Product Launch who will lead a team of Product Launch Managers (PLMs) responsible for the delivery of strategic new product initiatives to the field. As customer facing Product Managers, PLMs lead the launch of innovative products and solutions aimed at improving the efficiency and lowering the cost of Amazon’s next-generation Fulfillment, Sortation, and Delivery Centers. They are responsible for validating the new products prior to a large-scale rollout, generating field insights and identifying new requirements relevant to scaling. They own the coordination, communication, risk management and serve as a liaison between the Operations, Program Management, Product Development, Software/Hardware Engineering and Systems Architecture. This role will require the ability to lead a team of managers, and senior individual contributors, develop their skills and their careers, while providing program/escalation support and making long-term strategy/resourcing decisions.

  Key job responsibilities

  • Developing and executing yearly Operational Plan (OP) for the Product Launch organization

  • Establishing a 3-year plan for the Product Launch organization in coordination and alignment with the larger Customer Experience Team (CXT) organization.

  • Drive Operations Excellence across the PL team, developing and improving repeatable processes and mechanisms that support Operations at scale.

  • Recruit/Hire/Onboard manager and individual contributors to support the growing technical and operational complexity across the Amazon Robotics network.

  • Supporting the following Product Launch Manager tasks:

  o Lead the effective and efficient delivery of large complex cross-functional projects.

  o Facilitate and support a team of Product Launch Managers as they interact with warehouse Operations, Product Managers, Technical Program Managers, and multiple engineering teams to define and deliver complex programs.

  o Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.

  o Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities.

  o Leverage operations background and site knowledge to influence the solution/system test plan, creating realistic, effective, and efficient data validation plans.

  o Leverage product knowledge to influence the Product Requirements and Functional Requirements early in the development process, ensure that the Operational perspective is captured in these and other design documentation.

  o Hold regular Launch Readiness Meetings with program stakeholders, executive management, and coordinate stakeholder support for these meetings. Own and execute the communication plans.

  o Coordinate Amazon Robotics staff for new product introduction while onsite. This includes system delivery, install, and initial checkout. Partner with Program Managers and Development Leads to troubleshoot issues quickly and maintain launch plans.

  o Organize cross functional launch retrospectives to incorporate lessons learned into future launch plans.

  About the team

  The Product Launch team is responsible for introducing new AR products and services to our Operations Partners in the field. We work with these partners to ensure that they and their sites are ready. We simultaneously work with our Program, Development, and Support teams to ensure that the products and services are ready for Operations.

  We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

  Basic Qualifications

  Bachelor's degree

  Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  Experience technical product management

  Preferred Qualifications

  Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

  Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement
