Overview We're hiring for a Liquor Operations Leader to join our team and help to develop and implement a strategic business plan that drives liquor sales, achieves division financial budgets, and expands the footprint of the company's liquor division. This position will differentiate the company's liquor stores through a combination of assortment, pricing, and service, and through collaboration with the grocery store division. As our Head of Liquor Operations, you will: Develop and implement a strategic business plan that drives liquor sales through a combination of bolstering core business while seeking out new and emerging categories and business opportunities. This includes but is not limited to category analysis and assortment optimization, procurement, leverage of supplier relationships, operational standards, and guest service. Partner with the Merchandising and Marketing teams on promotional planning and pricing strategies that align with the market. Lead District Managers and hold them accountable for achieving financial budgets within their assigned district. Review and evaluate each store's performance on a regular basis, executing action plans to correct issues and continually improve performance to achieve strategic and financial objectives. Lead Liquor District Managers to ensure daily execution of daily standards and merchandising plans. Build partnerships with local and state representatives to assist the company in responsibly managing liquor licenses and expanding licensing opportunities. Aggressively seek out opportunities to optimize assortments across the states where the company operates, including cross-merchandising categories in food stores, cross-merchandising food in liquor stores, identifying emerging categories, and demonstrate urgency to be first to market. Collaborate with key business stakeholders, to include but not limited to, grocery retail, eCommerce operations, shelf management, marketing, and pricing, to ensure that business and promotional plans are developed to optimize sales growth and profit, to include store brand penetration, as well as consistent alignment with all company goals and objectives. Partner with the Finance team to forecast an aggressive sales budget, identify strategies for how Liquor stores will successfully hit their annual targets, and hold Liquor Managers accountable for the financial achievement of all budgetary goals. This individual is responsible for the P&L results of the department. Lead by example to create a culture that engages employees, builds team spirit and morale through recognition, accountability, coaching for talent development, and urgency. Partner with Human Resources to anticipate and recognize staffing needs, hire, develop and retain top talent. Develop high performing teams to create and maintain effective succession plans. Train, coach and mentor on how to rive sales through consistent executional excellence of operational standards, in-store promotional excitement, product knowledge and guest service. This position involves local and regional travel to meet business goals and objectives. Travel may be required up to 80% of the time. Requirements EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Business or related field; or eight to ten years of retail supermarket and managerial experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Comprehensive knowledge and experience in general business administration, budgeting, organizational development, and process improvement in a highly competitive environment. Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor staff on multiple teams. Strong communications and interpersonal skills required to interact effectively with high-level contacts within and outside of the organization.
