  We are seeking a candidate with a basic knowledge of chemistry, a good workethic and strong desire to help direct customers to proper disposal ofhazardous wastes, oversee and maintain the give away area.

  ResponsibilitiesSpecifically, this position:

  Provides customers service at the Household Hazardous Waste collectionfacility.Screens and accepts household hazardous waste from program participants.Assists technicians as needed.Keeps the collection facility clean and maintains an appropriate level ofhygiene.Assists in the consolidation of household hazardous waste through the use oflab-packing and loose-packing methods.Assists with bulking various waste materials such as oils and fuels by pouringoff materials into drums.   We are looking for a candidate that will:

  Display great customer service.Demonstrate critical thinking and ability to prioritize tasks during hecticsituations.Exhibit good organizational skills.Ability to read labels on waste materials.Have a basic understanding of chemistry.Be able to operate light equipment such a fork lift and pallet jack.Work on Saturdays.Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.QualificationsAll candidates will be screened for the following required minimumqualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualificationslisted as required will be eliminated from the process.

  Must be at least 18 years of age.Six (6) months of experience in a directly related field or in theperformance of similar duties and responsibilities preferred.Possession of OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations Certification within six(6) months of hire required.Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.Benefits

  This is a part time position expected to work between 30-39 hours a week. Thetypical schedule for this position Monday - Saturday hours vary between8:00am - 5:00pmPerforms physical labor for extended periods of time outdoors in all weatherconditions, day or night, including activities and physical demandsrequiring strength to lift, carry, push, pull, and otherwise moveobjects up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of forcefrequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Thisposition has a possible exposure toxic or caustic chemicals, dust,fumes, gases or airborne particles, and bloodborne pathogens.

  An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion ofrequired pre-employment testing. Depending on the position, these checks mayinclude, but are not limited to; reference checks, motor vehiclereports, employment verification, education verification,fingerprinting, criminal history information, physical, and a drugscreening. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testingpositive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance forwhich the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employmentbeing revoked.
