　　High School Diploma or GED required. 3 years hazardous materials operations.

　　Position Purpose:

　　Under general supervision, the Hazardous Material Operator is responsible for the day to day operation of the wastewater treatment system and the proper on-site handling, storage, recovery and disposal of hazardous waste materials.

　　Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

　　Essential Functions:

　　Communicate with Safety Representative to identify hazardous material documentation, handling storage, and disposal requirements.

　　Maintain a current knowledge of Federal, State, and Corporate Hazardous Materials regulations and procedures.

　　Identify hazardous material/waste requirements that pertain to documentation, storage, handling, and disposal.

　　Identify alternative products or processes that would minimize waste streams whenever possible.

　　Ensure that wastewater treatment equipment is operating as designed and monitor the condition and performance of key components.

　　Maintain accurate records of treatment processes, materials, quantities and test results.

　　Accomplish, monitor or direct the quantities and types of hazardous materials collected and stored and arrange for the legal and timely disposal of products.

　　Develop/maintain a training program on internal hazardous waste storage and disposal procedures.

　　Additional Functions:

　　Arrange for and perform maintenance functions of the applicable equipment as required. .Verify that the paint hangar waste production does not exceed the intake capacity of the wastewater treatment system. .Perform other duties as assigned.

　　Other Requirements:

　　A working knowledge of Federal, State, and Corporate regulations.

　　Basic math skills are required.

　　Knowledge of procedures for the handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials, and possession of associated certifications.
