Summary of PositionAssists with the general maintenance of turf and landscaped areas of the grounds of St. Josephs Indian School, includingmowing, trimming, irrigation, and removal of both snow and natural and man-made trash.This is a nonexempt position.
AccountabilityReports to the Grounds Supervisor
ResponsibilitiesMaintains turf areas which includes mowing, trimming, irrigation, fertilizing, and removal of natural and manmade trash.Maintains hard-surfaced outdoor areas, which includes removal of debris (natural or man-made) and /or snowfrom sidewalks, steps, patios, streets, playground, and drainage systems. Remove snow from and add salt todoorways. Spread gravel on roadways, intersections and sidewalks.Installs and maintains landscaping and campus plant-life. This includes planting, watering, pruning, removing,fertilizing, mulching, etc. Mixes and applies fertilizers and insecticides as needed.Maintains irrigation systems including winterizing and spring start-up.Operates heavy and light motorized equipment and vehicles. Operates power tools and uses hand tools neededin completing duties.Maintains and repairs tools and equipment. Reports damaged or broken equipment to supervisor.Installs rock walls and drainage systems. Installs landscape block and pavers, edging for flower beds, etc.Installs and maintains playground equipment. Schedules monthly maintenance on same.Is responsible for assisting with the construction and maintenance work of the physical complex during downtimes of grounds work.Maintains outdoor pavilion and lavatory facilities. Removes litter from pavilion, restrooms and campus areas.When needed, works additional hours and on weekends for snow removal, special events, caring for plants inthe green house, or emergency repair to cores.Complies with all safety and health requirements, whether established by management or by federal, state, orlocal laws.Performs other duties as required by Grounds Supervisor.Qualifications? High School diploma or equivalent? Experience preferred? Drivers license? Ability to obtain a Commercial Applicators License
Physical DemandsFrequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 30 lbs.?Occasionally exerts up to 50 lbs. of force.? Regularly bends, stoops, crouches, and climbs stairs.? Ability to stand for prolonged periods.? Must have the capability to apply oneself physically over long periods of time.?
