JOB SUMMARY
The graphic designer is part of the Gaylord Hotels Marketing creative team. This team is responsible for the creative direction of the brand, supporting year-round leisure programming and marketing, group marketing, and the overall positioning of the Gaylord Hotels brand. This team brings innovative creative solutions to market the brand and is responsible for the production and execution of creative tactics across paid, trade, earned, and owned channels.
The graphic designer reports to the associate creative director and is responsible for supporting graphic design needs for the portfolio. This includes bringing innovation, creative ideation, and production support across channels, including web, digital, social, and traditional channels such as print, OOH, and more. The graphic designer supports the development of advertising, logos, brand identities, collateral, presentations, and other marketing and promotional materials to reflect the brand, hotel image and style and ensure production aligns with the brand design, written, and visual standards.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Bachelors or BFA with emphasis in graphic design or a related field, or comparative work experience
1-3 years proven graphic design experience at an agency, in-house team or related preferred.
Advanced knowledge and proven experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Familiarity with HTML/CSS, Video Editing or Motion Design a plus.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Managing Marketing Activities
Develops creative concepts, designs, and creates original graphics in support of tradition and online media, especially websites, email, social media, and OOH channels.
Creates new concepts, ads, and new collateral to reflect appropriate brand look, style, segmentation, and positioning. Verifies consistent brand look across all projects for the Brand.
Evaluates a client’s product or service goals, their competitors, and target audience, while also protecting the client’s overall brand strategy, to provide creative solutions to these problems.
Works cooperatively with key stakeholders to quickly and efficiently assess and support fulfillment of their design needs.
Develops creative design, computer graphics, production layouts, and provides marketing support for assigned projects, following established department project administration and archival processes.
Compile presentations, pitch decks, mockups, or other representations of work to share with stakeholders. Participates in pitching process to secure support of ideas and ensure alignment with stakeholder needs.
Designs collateral and logos with close attention to typography. Adjusts and uses photography and illustrations effectively.
Maintains awareness of current design trends as well as different styles of design to execute design projects.
Maintains skill currency in computer and software required to complete assignments.
Presents new concepts, layouts, logos, etc., to creative leadership, marketing team, and other leaders.
Reviews proofs and coordinates review of printer’s proofs and handles final corrections/alterations and printing estimates.
Places order for production and maintains vendor relationship for assigned projects.
Manages document flow with internal and external clients or parties and vendors.
General Creative Management, Production, and Support
Assists with development and maintenance of brand and hotel graphic standards, assisting with integration of new standards and elements as needed, archiving assets, saving and archiving projects appropriately and proper tracking on projects within project management software.
Support the conversion, tagging, storage, and management of creative assets, including RAW and edited files. Manage rights, licenses, and other copyright-related tasks.
Assists client base with copyright verification, photo research, and art direction.
Plans and schedules creative services projects. Plans production schedules, project development costs and develops budgets and workflow.
Provides technical advice and guidance to production personnel, property marketing and corporate marketing staff on design and technical graphics issues.
Support the identification of business solutions that support scaling production, self-serve solutions, and other platforms/tools to create more efficient processes.
