The Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia is seeking a Grants and Contracts Administrator. This position supports the Department in pre and post award grant coordination, research operation support, clinical research support, and grant financial reconciliation. This position also serves as a research support to our principal investigators to provide best practices, training, and compliance oversight.
Manage grant submission process, fill out forms, prepare letters, upload proposal documents into sponsor portals, prepare financial reports per sponsor guidelines, and mail proposal hardcopies.
Perform monthly account reconciliations, and process vendor invoices, purchase orders, and cost transfers for multiple awards. Prepare and revise grant budgets.
Review proposals for conformity with University, State, and Sponsor guidelines.
Resolve problems through contact with University administrators or faculty and recommend appropriate changes.
Mentor new administrators and provide guidance.
Provide technical and administrative assistance to faculty and administrators in regard to sponsor regulations.
Conduct direct negotiations on behalf of the University with external sponsoring agencies.
Maintain complete and accurate file information.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: At least three years of grant and contract experience. Four additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
Licensure: Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in pre and post award coordination and reconciliation.
Experience in finance, procurement, and/or grants modules of Oracle.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
