This positions role is to maintain the daily operations of the elevator[s]{.underline} physical plant. The Elevator Operator reports to the Elevator Foreman and will provide lead supervisor guidance in the absence of the Elevator Foreman. This position is 90 to 95% physical laborwith somesedentary clerical work. Travel is minimal. This position proactively supports all company needs.
Responsibilities:Facility Maintenance
Routine and timely greasing and oiling of critical partsBelt repair and/or replacement on grain elevator machineryMotor and bearing repair and/or changesMinor welding when neededGrain Loading/ Unloading
Quality parameter testingReceive and ship trucks into the grain accounting system. (On-the-job training is provided.)Accurate grain bin measurement and calculationOperation of unloading equipment (Elevator, Dryer, Auger and Tractor)Grain Quality Control
Assist foreman with grain fumigationGood understanding of customer requirements and the ability to meet those requirementsDaily monitoring of condition of any grain stored on-siteOffice Responsibilities
Personal contact with customers and suppliersPerform minimal merchandising/hedging activities - if/when applicableGeneral office duties when Elevator Foreman is absentPerform duties associated with cash sales at the counterQualifications and Education Requirements:A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and a valid drivers license are required; 5+ years of direct experience is recommended in lieu of educational achievements beyond high school.The position requires working knowledge of mechanical and electrical components and equipment. To perform fumigation without supervision, a pesticide applicators license is required within 90 days of employment. Knowledge of grain is recommended but not required.
