　　Job Description

　　This position is looking for a graduate student intern who has solid background on power system modeling, operation, and optimization. Ideal candidate is expected to have a good knowledge of TSO, DSO, and/or virtual power plant. The intern will be responsible for conducting literature review, identifying gaps and summarizing new research opportunities. The intern will also be working on developing optimization models of DERs for providing both distribution and transmission grid services. The ideal candidate should be able to conduct research work independently and also collaborate with the project PI and other team members.

　　Basic Qualifications

　　Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Candidates who have earned a degree may work for a period not to exceed 12 months. Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

　　Familiar with power system operation, market participation, virtual power plant.

　　Familiar with T&D coordination

　　Experience in distributed energy resource modeling, optimization, and control

　　Experience in power system modeling and optimization

　　Proficiency in programming language (e.g., Python, C/C++)

　　Proficiency in commercial/open-source optimization solvers and packages (e.g., GAMS, Gurobi, CPLEX)

　　Track record in strong scientific publications

　　Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)

　　Job Profile: Graduate II / Annual Salary Range: $42,700 - $68,300

　　NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
