  SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A LEVEL 2 BACKGROUND SCREENING IS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.

  THIS IS A STATE OF FLORIDA CAREER SERVICE (CS) POSITION.

  Job Description:

  The incumbent in this position will serve as a Government Operations Consultant II for the Division of Blind Services (DBS) providing support to the Career, Technology, and Training Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired (CTTC) located in Daytona Beach. The incumbent will provide direct classroom instruction, develop lesson plans, communicate with Center staff, maintain equipment and supplies, attend workshops and conferences for professional growth, and provide additional support where needed at the Center.

  Examples of Work:

  Provide direct classroom instruction in career exploration.

  Incorporate and fully utilize the Pre-Employment Program to enhance the students' ability to obtain and retain comprehensive integrated employment.

  Make use of work experiences, informational and mock interviews with local employers, job shadowing, self-advocacy, and community networking to assist the student in achieving their vocational goals.

  Assist students' with developing and/or improving the work characteristics and skills needed for competitive integrated employment or to function independently in a home and/or work environment.

  Develop programs and curricula as needed.

  Teach in other area(s) as required.

  Develop lesson plans that reflect the daily objectives needed to meet the established goals.

  Produce reports of staffings' for each assigned student/client.

  Make recommendations to management and staff for appropriate career assessment strategies including vocational evaluations, situational assessments, and career counseling for inclusion in students' and clients' Individual Plans for Employment (IPE).

  Evaluate new vocational evaluation and career exploration tools as they become available and/or as updates become available on the market.

  Maintain office equipment and supplies, keeping inventory stocked and in good repair as well as create purchase orders or requisitions for new items and replacements.

  Prepare and maintain records and case files, including progress observations.

  Attend workshops and conferences for professional growth.

  Participate in public education as needed and serve as a resource person for staff, students, and the public.

  Assist with student/faculty/department needs as required.

  Acquire new skills as needed to meet program changes and goals.

  Perform other duties as needed.

  Minimum Qualifications:

  A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of professional experience in systems analysis, management analysis, program planning, program research, program evaluation, engineering or administrative work.

  A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.

  Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  Knowledge of post-secondary educational training options, including preparing to go to work, and job retention strategies.

  Knowledge of interviewing techniques, job search strategies and job-related behaviors.

  Ability to assist with updating resumes, job applications and data sheets.

  Knowledge of programs and services available to assist students' and clients'.

  Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.

  Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.

  Ability to interpret federal and state laws and rules.

  Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices.

  Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.

  Ability to conduct fact-finding research.

  Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

  Ability to work independently.

  Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to operational and management analysis activities.

  Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

  Ability to communicate effectively.

  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  Ability to travel as needed.
