  Job Description

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  Reporting to the Head of PDM Business Operations, and part of the larger Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing (PDM) organization, the Governance Business Lead will work with PDM leadership to refine and implement governance frameworks across PDM and manage governance committee meetings to enable programmatic strategic decisions in a timely fashion. In addition, the Governance Business Lead will work with PDM Product Strategy Leads and Product Managers to develop appropriate stage gate frameworks, governance committee charters and tools/processes to support PDM governance operations. This work will support the team system tools and processes that will be developed by the Product Management Group Leads.

  FOCUS AREAS

  Implement governance framework across Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing (PDM) organization. Work with PDM Product Strategy Leads to bring appropriate projects/products to the Product & Network Governance Committee (PNGC) for review in a timely manner. Ensure the team seeks appropriate approval/guidance from the PNGC about product strategy & risk, at-risk investments and progress against strategic goals/milestones.

  Create standardized presentation templates for the PNGC

  Develop stage gate frameworks by working with PDM Product Strategy Leads and Product Managers. Use such framework to advance programs for PNGC review.

  Develop governance charters. Maintain oversight, receive feedback and iterate for continuous improvement.

  Manage PNGC and other governance meetings: Work with PDM Product Strategy Leads and Product Managers to create agendas, meeting content, appropriate attendee lists and coordinate PNGC meetings.

  Develop and maintain PDM Governance SharePoint site for repository of all PNGC-related documents.

  Implement PNGC feedback tools by working with the PDM Communication teams. Solicit feedback from PNGC for continuous improvement.

  QUALIFICATIONS:

  BS degree in life sciences or relevant field and 10+ years of relevant work experience OR MS degree in life sciences or relevant field and 8+ years of relevant work experience is required.

  Advanced degree is a preferred.

  Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience with knowledge of drug development, including manufacturing of small molecules and Biologics. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards is desired.

  Knowledge of and experience in developing and managing governance processes in pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

  Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively communicate and build relationships with a broad spectrum of audiences at all organizational levels.

  Self-directed and proactive with ability to manage diverse stakeholders, exercise good judgment and respond quickly and effectively to changing timelines, requirements and environments. Demonstrates exceptional influencing skills without direct authority.

  Possesses excellent oral communication skills. Speaks clearly and persuasively; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Demonstrates good presentation skills; Proactively participates in meetings.

  The salary range for this position is: $191,335.00 - $247,610.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
