  Internship Program Overview:

  Our Interns & Co-ops are our entry-level talent pipeline for GF across the globe. Our goal is to provide students with a meaningful work experience that will equip them with the skills to embark on a career in the fast-paced and growing semiconductor industry after graduation. As an intern at GF, you’ll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives.

  Summary of Role:

  The non-volatile memory team at GlobalFoundries has a primary mission to understand the fundamentals of non-volatile memory devices and to determine how those devices can best be deployed to meet the application requirements of the broad range of GF’s customers. One emerging application area of interest is artificial intelligence and low power neural network computing. GF is involved with many research partners as we work to understand the role that eNVMs can play in this rapidly emerging application space. The intern for this role will help to create a simulation model to allow for judging various MAC implementations to allow for a normalized comparison between memory devices and architecture designs.

  Essential Responsibilities include:

  Critical review and understanding of latest research being done in the compute-in-memory and analog-compute-in-memory architectures and algorithms.

  Building a simulation framework to allow for key figure of merit extraction.

  Compile and summarize opportunities and challenges being faced.

  Learn and explore new technologies in the AI/ML space.

  Present project status to peers and the leadership team as needed.

  Interaction with multiple stakeholders/groups both inside and outside GF

  Other Responsibilities:

  Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.Qualifications:

  Education – At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Master’s and PhD in Device Physics, Architeture design, AI/ML or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.

  Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.

  Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)

  Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.

  Memory device physics and/or memory architectures/macro design proficiency

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Prior related internship or co-op experience

  Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.

  Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.

  Strong written and verbal communication skills

  Strong planning & organizational skills
