Plant Protection Aids (at GS-3, step 1) and Plant ProtectionTechnicians (at GS-4, step 1). Starts at \$17.00 per hour depending onexperience. Easily qualify and apply now for an exciting opportunity towork for the USDA. The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service(APHIS) is looking to fill several vacant spots for Plant ProtectionAids.
Be progressively trained in the use of various devices, tools andrelated equipment utilized in pale cyst nematode regulatory operations.Assist in the collection of soil samples. Keep routine and basic recordsof daily activities, observations, field conditions or contacts made forpurposes of exchanging information. Basic familiarity of biological oragricultural work is desirable but not required. Knowledge of equipmentexperience (ATV/UTV, truck/trailer operations) also desirable; however,all applicants will be considered.
This work will consist of walking in agricultural fields collecting soilsamples in a variety of weather conditions away from shelter andconveniences. Employees can expect to walk a few miles a day in rough,loose, uneven and hilly terrain. The ability to stand for long periodsof time and occasionally lift 30-50 lbs. are required.
Keeps routine and basic records of daily activities. May assist inaddressing pest risks in quarantine areas as instructed by techniciansor officers to prevent the spread of cysts from infested to clean areas.
This position is part to full time with some flexibility to fit a schoolschedule and starts at up to \$17.00 per hour with any work experienceover 6 months. No work experience? We still need you. If workload allows, you are eligible inthis position to work up to 180 days per year. The standard schedule is7:30 AM to 4:00 PM M-F. Peak seasons of summer and fall will offerovertime and Saturday work.

Qualify at GS-3, step 1 (\$17.00 per hour) with a minimum of 6 monthsgeneral work experience.
Plant Protection Technicians (at GS-4, step 1)
Qualify at GS-4 (\$17.34 per hour) with a minimum of 6 months generalwork experience, PLUS 6 months specialized (related) experience.
Requirements include U.S. Citizenship and a valid State drivers license.Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the SelectiveService. USDA works with direct deposit to issue paychecks. Applicantsmust have access to a bank account prior to starting work. Applyyear-round. The hiring process can take approximately 6 weeks.
