This order is for work in the Rigby, Idahoarea. Applicant must have 20 days experience as a general farmworker/irrigator/livestock worker and the name and number of thereference who has firsthand knowledge and can verify the worker\'sexperience. Worker will be required to perform a variety of dutiesrelated to the production of potatoes, grain, hay and cattle. Themajority of the work activities during the overall contract period,however, will be related to general farm work/irrigation/cropproduction. General Farm Work will include the followingresponsibilities: maintain, drive, attach and operate farmimplements/tractors/equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilizeand harvest crops; remove rocks from field; remove weeds from crops orfarm grounds; paint/repair farm structures; perform general cleanup offarm areas; drive, load/unload trucks. Irrigation duties will includethe following: Hand lines: connect pipes; check alignment of pipe andadjust for proper water distribution; attach lines to water supply;disassemble lines and carry pipes across fields at specified intervals.Wheel lines: start gasoline engines and operate controls to move linesacross fields at specified intervals. Flood Irrigation: lift gate inside of flooded irrigation ditch/pipe permitting water to flow intobordered section of field; shovel and pack dirt in low spots ofembankment or cut trenches in high areas to direct water flow; closegate in ditch/pipe when bordered section is flooded; shovel or hoe soilto clear ditches/furrows and build embankments to appropriately channelwater. Other Irrigation Duties: remove pipes/wheel lines from storageand lay out/place in predetermined patterns in fields; lubricate,adjust, repair and replace parts such as sprinkler heads and drivechains using hand tools; observe revolving sprinklers and adjust toensure proper operation and uniform distribution of water; disassemble,service and store pipes/mainlines/wheel lines after irrigation season.To meet minimum acceptable performance standards when irrigating, theworker must, after a 10 day conditioning period, move an average of atleast 48 40-foot sections of 3-inch pipe or 44 40-foot sections of4-inch pipe per hour under normal working conditions. Duties related tothe production of Livestock will include the following: check physicalcharacteristics, observe general condition of livestock and apply theappropriate care; examine animals to detect illness/injury/disease, rateof weight gain or to determine delivery time, assist in delivery; applyor administer medications, vaccines and/or insecticides; place mineralblocks; drive equipment to haul/distribute feed/water; herd livestock;confine livestock in stalls; clean/disinfect livestockcorrals/stalls/sheds; dock, castrate, brand, clip/tag and clamplivestock; hoist/stack bales of hay onto wagon/truck. Duties related tothe Cutting/Sorting of Seed Potatoes will include the following: Willapply techniques as instructed by the employer to cut and sort potatoesby: using knife to cut potato into sections; place potatoes on machinethat cuts potatoes into sections; push button to start machinery; tend/monitor machine to insure proper movement of product; discarddiseased/rotting/inferior product and foreign matter; reportmalfunctions; general cleanup. Duties related to the Harvesting ofPotatoes will include the following: discard diseased/rotting product,rocks and foreign matter; alert equipment operator of equipmentclogging/malfunctions. Must be able to lift 100 pounds at times.
