About Treasury Liquidity Risk Lead - Hybrid (see details)

  ** This is a hybrid position (part in-office/part remote work) and, depending upon the location of the final candidate, it will be based in an M&T office in Buffalo, NY, NYC, NY, Bridgeport, CT, Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, or Wilmington, DE.

  Overview:

  Ensures accuracy and timeliness of standard and ad hoc reporting. Creates presentations on liquidity risk management and process improvement to senior management. Mentors junior analysts. Work with Internal Audit and 2nd Line of Defense in their examination of the Liquidity Risk Management.

  Primary Responsibilities:

  Manage and participate in analysis and reporting of the Bank's balance sheet liquidity risk position to senior management, providing a clear explanation of key drivers for changes in risk profile to meet internal and external regulatory guidance, and support management's decision-making process.

  Partner with business lines and Treasury team members to incorporate liquidity planning into the balance sheet and model assumptions for forecasting the Bank's balance sheet through a sophisticated model known as QRM (Quantitative Risk Management).

  Provide guidance to Asset Liability Management (ALM) and Balance Sheet Strategy teams to develop liquidity strategies by preparing, analyzing and reporting various liquidity stress scenarios modeled in QRM to support management of liquidity risk reports produced for senior management.

  Lead efforts for annual updates including, The Funding and Liquidity Risk Management Policy, the Contingency Funding Plan and the Effective Challenge process.

  Stay abreast of current and proposed regulatory guidance and industry best practices as they relate to liquidity risk management. Take initiative to test the Bank's readiness to comply with applicable proposed regulations.

  Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.

  Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  Complete other related duties as assigned.

  Education and Experience Required:

  Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and a minimum of 5 years' risk management experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years' risk management experience

  Strong knowledge of liquidity risk management techniques

  Strong quantitative, financial, economic and statistical skills

  Strong analytical skills

  Advanced computer skills and proficiency with pertinent spreadsheet, database and word processing software

  Knowledge of all banking products and behaviors related to liquidity management

  Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an equally strong desire to learn

  Education and Experience Preferred:

  Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

  Proficiency with personal computers and relevant analytical software packages in the field: Quantitative Risk Management (QRM), Andrew Davison & Co. (AdCo), etc.

  Experience in mathematical modeling of financial instruments

  Skilled analyst with prior banking experience

  Knowledge of bank products and services

  Ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, coordinating multiple projects simultaneously

  M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $97,869.52 - $163,115.87 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
