Summary You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the FACILITIES DIRECTORATE of MARCORPS NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION. Responsibilities You will serve as an engineering advisor and a resource advisor representing the Marine Corps. You will provide engineering judgement on emerging facilities engineering issues worldwide that could affect Marine Corps mission. You will provide interpretation of agency policy, regulations, and standards as applied to problems involving condition assessment concerns. You will provide engineering advice and guidance to the public works program. You will identify important issues, concerns, or trends involving facilities infrastructure sustainment in regions, states, or major municipalities in the vicinity of Marine Corps Installations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing engineering judgement on emerging facilities engineering issues; providing interpretation of policy, regulations, or standards to apply to facilities engineering problems; determining the economics of maintenance and repair required to meet national/local standards; providing engineering guidance/expertise with respect to a public works program ; applying advanced and complex engineering principles and concepts including knowledge and skills with applying civil, electrical, industrial, and mechanical engineering tools and techniques to facilities/infrastructure sustainment, restoration, modernization, reconfiguration, and planning for organizational requirements in support of worldwide operations. Mastery of applying advanced engineering theories, concepts, principles, and practices to provide significant and innovative techniques to resolve unique and novel problems. Experience with facilities/infrastructure condition assessments determining and predicting levels of deterioration; managing vulnerability risks to terrorism; ascertaining economics of maintenance and repair required to meet national/local standards; and providing significant recommendations to advance energy/environmental/health/safety, and natural resources compliance. Expertise with a wide variety of professional, administrative, technical, trades, and crafts work. Significant experience with MILCON and O&M Programs; participating in special studies, delivering presentations, developing/administering projects/plans, making recommendations, and performing follow-up actions. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
