Based in Farmington Hills, MI, the General Counsel reports to the company President.

Assume sole responsibility for all U.S. legal matters, proactively identifying and collaboratively addressing risk in all areas of the business. Support HR and employee visas. Manage the export control program and government compliance. Efficiently and accurately complete legal tasks. Enjoy tackling problem-solving challenges. Responsibilities:
Company Documents: Draft and update company documents such as NDAs, T&Cs, HR policiesContracts: Review, negotiate and process commercial contracts such as NDAs and T&Cs; contract management.Purchase Orders: Responsible for reviewing and approving Purchase Orders, ensuring all checks are complete.Export Control: Act as Empowered Official for ITAR purposes; manage and maintain the Export Management Compliance Program and the ITAR/EAR Data Protection Procedures; registration and licenses.HR: Oversee hires and terminations, train new hires on HR policies and export controls.Visas: Manage visa processing calendar, submit applications, assist outside counsel when engaged, maintain I-9 and Public Access Folders.Governance: Schedule board meetings, arrange for Board resolutions, update bylaws and Governance documents as needed, collaborate with affiliates' legal representatives.Government Compliance: Maintain annual registrations, respond to surveys, Privacy Shield compliance, EEO data.Insurance: Maintain coverages, liaise with broker, obtain Certificates of InsuranceLease: Keep records, advise re Facilities.Health & Safety: Maintain OSHA log, serve on H&S Committee, process Incident Reports.Legal disputes: Implement preventive measures, investigate and gather information, secure and work closely with outside counsel.Legal developments: Keep up with new legislation and legal developments, implement required changes, attend relevant training.General: Forecast legal spend, handle legal correspondence, research and write memos, respond to questions, other duties as required.Internal Compliance: Understand and comply with the company's processes and policies, including export control compliance.Requirements:
Member in good standing of the State Bar of MichiganJ.D degree in Law or equivalentAt least 3 years' experience as in-house counsel```{=html}
