JOB SUMMARY
As a member of our hospitality team, the primary responsibility of an Assistant Director of Sales is to assist the Director of Sales in the departments of Sales and Marketing by achieving revenue and booking pace goals, guest satisfaction, and financial performance. This role leads the on-property sales functions, focusing on building long-term customer relationships and driving hotel sales objectives and evaluates and supports the hotel's participation in various sales channels, manages marketing budgets, and develops strategies for each property. A crucial part of this role is to oversee sales activities, segment sales, marketing communication, and market trends analysis, generate revenue growth, and maintain a competitive position in the market.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Participate in various sales efforts, encompassing reactive sales, proactive account sales, segment sales, local and social catering sales, business travel sales, reservation sales, and destination sales.
Strategically deploy the sales team, assigning them to appropriate market segments to maximize their effectiveness.
Determine and develop marketing communication activities, evaluate marketing opportunities, and execute plans to create collateral (photos, print, direct mail, web pages) that support marketing and advertising initiatives. Collaborate with the Corporate Director of Public Relations if applicable.
Evaluate market and economic trends, making necessary adjustments to sales strategies to meet or exceed customer expectations, increase revenue, and maintain a competitive position in the market.
Develop and execute strategies to achieve team booking goals.
Evaluate and support market sales participation and performance, working closely with market sales on account deployment.
Act as the sales contact for General Managers and property leadership teams, accurately representing their individual sales needs.
Serve as the primary sales contact for customers, advocating for them within the organization.
Act as the sales liaison with market sales/cluster sales, Revenue Management, Event Management, and other relevant hotel departments.
Serve as an authority on sales processes and sales contracts, providing final approval on business evaluation recommendations.
Develop strong community and public relations by ensuring participation in local, regional, and national trade shows and client events.
Participate in sales calls with the sales and marketing teams to acquire new business and close deals.
Coordinate public relations and crisis communications, acting as the voice of the organization for participating properties in the absence of the Director of Public Relations.
Collaborate with Revenue Management to assist in the development of each hotel's sales strategy.
Ensure effective communication, implementation, and updates of sales strategies in response to market fluctuations.
Partner with Revenue Management for the annual pricing process, request for pricing (RFPs), and development of the marketing business plan.
Utilize the Property Diagnostic Process (PDP) to maximize revenue and profits.
Review sales and catering guest satisfaction results, identify areas for improvement, and develop corrective action plans in collaboration with Sales and Marketing management teams.
Conduct meetings with guests during pre- and post-convention gatherings to obtain feedback on product quality, service levels, and overall satisfaction.
Set goals and expectations for direct reports using the performance appraisal process, provide specific feedback to improve performance, and conduct annual performance appraisals according to Standard Operating Procedures.
Administer sales bonuses and incentive programs in collaboration with the Director of Sales (DOS) at each unit.
Establish and maintain open and collaborative relationships with associates, promoting a similar approach within the team.
Take responsibility for the financial management of the Sales and Marketing budget in each property, including transient, group room, and catering expenses.
Review and manage controllable expenses, such as advertising, promotions, operating supplies, and travel expenses.
Attend owners' meetings as a member of the participating hotel's executive committees, reviewing sales and marketing results, and openly communicating sales challenges and successes as requested.
Pay is based on experience with a range from $80,000.00 to $85,000.00.
