Job Title: Forklift Operator
Job Summary :
The Forklift Operator is responsible for performing setup and line service for production lines safely and in a timely manner, retrieving ingredients or packaging material as needed during production, transferring finished product to the freezer, accurately receiving inventory, ensuring received inventory is accurately entered into the warehouse management system, and maintaining a clean work area.
Essential Job Functions:
Ability to work the scheduled/assigned times and required overtime for position
Ability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend written instructions in English
Ability to drive forklifts including stand-up, sit down, tandem, and rider
Excellent attention to detail
Basic math skills
Basic knowledge of computers
Ability to move up to 75 lbs
Job Duties :
Perform required safety check of equipment before use
Perform setup and line service for production in a timely manner
Setup production staging areas with required ingredients and materials from daily requisition sheet
Retrieve ingredients/packaging material for production as needed during production
Transfer finished product from the line to the freezer
Prepare to receive trailers by opening dock door, setting dock plate, inspecting trailer, and chocking tires
Inspect and unload trailers
Verify bill of lading
Accurately count and inspect received inventory
Transfer inventory to open warehouse, freezer, or cooler locations
Rotate date sensitive stock according to company policy
Maintain clean work area (e.g., remove trash, stack pallets, remove damaged pallets, etc.)
May perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :
Knowledge of forklift safety and troubleshooting
Ability to understand the effects of product damage
Ability to solve problems independently
Must be well organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work individually as well as with others as a team at all levels
Knowledge of GMP’s
Ability to be PIT Certified
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: Minimum 6 months forklift preferred.
