  The Role

  Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees, and assists in development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all drawings, procedures, etc. Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance. Supervises qualified trades staff; monitoring job and budget performance for all shifts.

  This requisition will be responsible for SHT (Special Hull Treatment) TP 232-101 Records Quality for both X32M (MIP) and X33M (MIP Paint).

  This position will also be responsible for the following:

  -MPC3's and Records Technicians that create records, develop maps for MIP Paint, MIP Installation, and Final MIP Paint; ensuring information is input into the Records Database.

  -Interface with MIP Installation and Paint foremen/GF's; X67RR team; and E25 Database owners.

  -Make corrections to Rejected Records/Maps to clear Records Deficiencies

  -Requires knowledge of Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and SAP.

  Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus to Foreman new hires. Job seekers who apply on qualifying requisitions are eligible for the sign-on bonus. The sign-on bonus is for all Foreman new hires, current Newport News Shipbuilding employees are eligible.

  Candidates selected to move forward in the hiring process will take and complete a 20-30 minute assessment. This one-time assessment will be applied to all Newport News Shipbuilding Foreman positions for a period of 365 days. For internal applicants, the assessment should be completed on the employee’s own time.
