The goal of the Fitness Center Essentials program is to assist members in making a healthy lifestyle change and to build self-esteem.  Assisting members through this process by providing personalized attention, support and motivation, and education and instruction will lead to member engagement and retention.Key Responsibilities:-Understand and lead the client through the Fitness Center Essentials program.-Provide outstanding service to all members and guests.  Outstanding service is acting as a proactive agent - initiating a professional relationship with the members regarding their needs, concerns, and questions and acting as an agent to accommodate the member’s needs/concerns.-Understand and be able to discuss and promote all YMCA programs.-Attend staff meetings.-Contact members on a weekly basis to follow-up on the progression of their fitness program.-Be able to answer members' questions, concerns, and complaints in a timely and courteous manner.-Provide members with opportunities that will increase their involvement, sense of belonging, and ownership of the YMCA.-Assist members in effectively utilizing fitness equipment. Member Orientations.-Maintain required certifications, tracked in Club Connect.-Actively participate in training sessions and designated meetings. Community Tabling.-Have a thorough knowledge of branch emergency procedures and take appropriate action for emergency situations.-Support community and promotional special events as needed.-Maintaining the cleanliness of the machines.-Conduct intakes and orientations.-Conduct Tours.Desired Skills & Experience:-High School diploma or equivalent.-Experience working in a health and fitness environment.-Adult CPR / First Aid / AED certifications.-Orientation to Healthy Living at the Y.-Foundations of Listen First.-Principles of Member Health & Wellness.-Foundations of Strength and Conditioning.-Fitness Center Essentials Training.-Attend current service training within 90 days of hire.-Excellent customer service skills.Benefits:The YMCA of Greater New York offers a variety of benefits to its staff members including retirement benefits, medical, paid time off, free YMCA membership and more!
