　　Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

　　| The William States Lee College of Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites exceptionally qualified candidates for a 9-month tenure-track or tenured faculty position at Assistant or Associate ranks in Construction Engineering and Management fields, with an anticipated start date of either January 2024 or August 2024. Candidates with diverse research interests such as those aligned with UNC Charlotte’s areas of research focus and distinction (https://research.charlotte.edu/research-areas-focus-and-distinction) are strongly encouraged to apply. Specifically, the department is expanding its research excellence in the following areas:

　　Workforce, Safety, and Human-Technology Interaction: Developing the workforce through advanced training programs, integrating human factors with technological advancements to enhance workplace productivity, and investigating the dynamic relationship between humans and intelligent technologies for the future of work.

　　Digital Transformation and Smart Built Environment: Harnessing smart technologies enabling more intelligent, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure and built environment through transformative concepts and processes in engineering, construction, and facilities management. This spans from smart cities to construction sites enhanced with remote sensing, cloud computing, digital twins, and automation.

　　Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI): Using AI to enhance the planning, design, construction, and management of facilities and infrastructure.

　　Resilient Infrastructure and Communities: Research on designing robust infrastructure and communities that can withstand, adapt to, and rapidly recover from various disasters and extreme events to ensure the long-term sustainability and resilience of both infrastructure and the communities that rely on it.

　　The successful candidate is expected to develop and sustain nationally and internationally recognized, externally funded research programs specific to their area of specialty, publish in high-impact publication venues, promote students’ high-impact learning experience through the integration of research and education, and engage in professional service. Responsibilities for this position include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and service to the department, university, and the professional organizations, including outreach to industry.

　　The capability to teach typical construction management and engineering courses is expected (e.g., estimating, scheduling, BIM / VDC , project management). Candidates with the ability to also teach courses related to facilities engineering and management are encouraged to apply.

　　Minimum Experience / Education:

　　UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

　　Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

　　Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in construction engineering, construction management, or a closely related field by the time of contract. Priority will be given to candidates with strong research records evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, externally funded research, and a plan for future research that aligns with university and department research focus stated above.
