Position Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Support major business decisions and overall financial health of one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America. As an analyst in the Long Range Planning group within the Corporate Financial Planning team at Kinder Morgan, you will apply your financial aptitude to consolidate, model, analyze, report, and present both detailed and high-level summaries to Senior Management.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create, maintain, and enhance financial models and reports for long-range outlooks and annual budgets
Provide meaningful analysis and explanations of variances in a timely manner
Prepare concise summaries of complex financial projections and results from diverse set of business units
Articulate and present business outcomes derived from analyses to various levels of colleagues and management
Interface with all levels of finance colleagues and management in business segments and corporate units to stay abreast of business operations potentially impacting financial results
Partner with teammates to maintain, administer, and continuously improve all facets of Planful forecasting system, including system hierarchies, input templates, data load rules, and reports
Support and strengthen high-performing Corporate Financial Planning team in all functional areas
Serve as backup for Short-Range Planning group, assisting with completion of bi-weekly forecast updates when coverage is needed
Complete special requests from Office of the Chair and Senior Management as necessary
This position is located in Houston and offers a hybrid schedule (Monday-Wednesday in office, Thursday and Friday working remotely)
Position Requirements
Minimum requirements:
Education
· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
Experience/ Specific Knowledge
Minimum 2-5 years of experience in accounting/financial planning and analysis. Level of position will be based on education and experience.
Extensive experience in performing detailed financial variance analysis.
Experienced with computerized accounting systems, financial modeling, budgets, financial analysis, and management reporting.
Detailed understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial statements, and the accounting process.
Advanced Excel skills.
Must possess strong organizational skills.
Must have the skills to communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner in both oral and written form.
Must possess outstanding problem analysis and resolution skills at both a strategic and functional level.
Ability to work independently to understand, design, and create complex models and reports is essential.
Ability to manage and execute multiple tasks simultaneously and under pressure.
Must possess the experience and skills to foresee and anticipate questions from Senior Management and have skills to address questions quickly and intelligently.
Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.

Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
Experience in energy industry preferred
Experience with Planful and Hyperion Essbase financial systems
