About the role:
We are currently seeking a Mine Accounting Manager at our Bear Run Mine.
Reporting to the Director of Mine Finance, the scope of your role will be to process, analyze and report data relating to the financial and operational activities of the Company and maintain controls for safeguarding of Company assets. This role will collaborate with the GM and site leadership to effectively administer financial affairs of the business unit such as budget and forecast preparation and cost control initiatives.
Duties will include:
Prepare and consolidate the annual mine budget to provide useful and strategic goal documentation to include analysis and evaluation of historical business trends as well as anticipated business activitiesManage the quarterly mine level forecast preparation to measure project anticipated costs through modeling. Coordinate with various operations staff to obtain cost and mine plan information and prepare analysis for the mine and US Operations managementCoordinate and control the capital acquisition process for the mine. Participate in the planning and preparation of the capital budget and assist the GM Operations with presentation of CEA's to US Operations committeeManage the monthly close by monitoring monthly cost activity, assisting with preparation and review of journal entries, assisting with accumulation and loading of mine statistics and completing analysis of actual results to the forecast and budgetAssist the management team in controlling costs and conduct proper and timely reporting of current costs against historical and budgeted costsMaintain and update documentation regarding fixed assetsPerform timely and accurate analytical projects requested by the mine or US Operations management; such as cost/benefit studies, impacts from coal inventory fluctuationsStay abreast of new accounting methods, proposed legislation as well as accounting principles to ensure the corporation is complying with all reporting requirementsEnsure company policies are adhered to and enforcedPerform other duties and responsibilities as assignedAdminister Kronos and SAP as it applies to this positionThe lifestyle:
This position is a full time dayshift role, working on a Monday-Friday roster out of our Bear Run Mine.
About you:
At least five years of related experience, with previous management responsibilities to include supervision of financial professionals in a corporate operating environmentBachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent academic training with business emphasisMaster's degree, CPA or CMA a plusStrong working knowledge of corporate accounting, planning, financial analysis, risk management, office management, personnel activities, cash management, and generally accepted accounting principles. Must be able to analyze complex accounting issues, make recommendations and justify positions takenWorking knowledge of US accounting and financial reportingExcellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of managementStrong computer skills (Microsoft products, SAP, IP, etc.)Must have a working knowledge of SAP to assist the mine in setting up functional locations and projectsMining experience a plusPhysical Requirements:
Must have the ability to sit for up to 8 hoursMust be able to use a computer, communicate effectively in various forms, including by email and phoneMust be able to review paper and electronic documents; complete computer entry of data from paper documentsMust be able to find, remove and return files to/from file cabinets; discuss issues by telephone and in personMust be able to operate copier, fax machine, etc.May be required to work beyond normal office hoursAbout Peabody:
