This Position is for a Financial Analyst with a petroleum services company location in Flowood, MS.
Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with Ergon's capital budget program. Prepare financial statement forecasts for distribution to leadership using integrated modeling to gather income and cash flow components. Partner with business unit management to evaluate growth and acquisition projects by determining and modeling economic value to the firm via discounted cash flow analysis and other means. Review completed growth and acquisition projects to determine accuracy of original projections in order to assist management with making better investment decisions. Present to executive and senior leadership teams, the company's capital spending plans and the results of various types of financial analyses. Assists with due diligence activities with internal teams and fulfill specific portions of diligence activities. Perform specialized financial analyses (cash-flow analysis, "what-if' analysis, asset valuations, pro-forma financial statements, impairment calculations for year-end audit) and prepare related reports. Perform specific tasks such as allocation of corporate overhead, segregation of financial results by business segment and industry competitive / trend analysis. Analyze KPls and other benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of Ergon companies, divisions and departments. Execute ad-hoc financial information or analysis as needed by senior leaders and business unit managers.
Education and Experience:
BA/BS Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA certification and/or MBA with an emphasis in accounting or finance preferred, but not required. Minimum of two years' experience in a finance or accounting position with experience performing financial modeling and analyzing financial statements. Public accounting experience preferred, but not required. Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques along with proficiency in database and spreadsheet applications. Financial Analyst Special Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of financial principles (GAAP), practices and procedures. Skilled in preparing various types of financial analyses, especially discounted cash flow models. Proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work on projects as part of a team as well as ability to prioritize multiple tasks and met deadlines. Strong oral and written communication skills.
