　　Mi-Tech offers a broad range of professional, engineering and technical services to the telecommunications and power delivery markets. We have a current opening for a Utility Technician. At Mi-Tech, we support our customers and stakeholders and constantly strive to exceed expectations with all of our services, which include: Communications Design Services, Energy Distribution Services, Utility Pole Inspection, and Environmental Services.

　　Responsibilities:

　　• Collecting field data utilizing tripod mounted GPS unit (EOS Arrow Gold), laser range finder (TruPulse 200x) and tablet (iPad Pro 11)

　　• Responsible for taking field notes and completing data collection for the purpose of fiber optic internet design utilizing existing power infrastructure – can you walk me through the projects your team supports?

　　• Documentation of field data and taking measurements of existing utilities and communications attached to power company poles

　　• Utilize ESRI Collector to document and compile collected field data

　　How manager describes the job:

　　They have GPS units (surveying tripods) and that unit is able to connect to an ipad. Will be walking around rural areas to all of the electric power poles that this Utility owns. They also have a chest back that they can put all their batteries, phone, and ipad. They will then take laser measurements of the poles (they don't do any staking / sticking). They use a laser range finder. Take the lowest electric power attachment and heights of the transformers on the pole, a tensioned cable designed to add stability to a freestanding structure, and other attachments and take a photo of the pole and electric meters, etc. They do this for power crossings over highways, roads, etc. as well. They need to know how power is routed b/c they are following the power route. This is a fiber optic internet design project. They are updated the fiber on the power poles (overhead) so they need this data to do that.

　　Additional Skills & Qualifications:

　　Requirements:

　　Knowledge of the Utility Industry, specifically: power distribution, fiber optic internet, telecommunications, CATV. They need to know what is on a power pole (power, communications, internet, cable, etc.)• Overnight travel and extended stay may be required for the completion of job duties - If they are not within an hour of the job site overnight travel will be required

　　• Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation - need their own vehicle to get to the hotel they are all staying at where trucks are

　　• Potentially walk long distances through rugged terrain and in various weather conditions - this is a 100% field role in rural areas

　　• Applicants must be detail orientated and have the ability to adapt and problem solve

　　• Utilize Microsoft Office and potentially learn new software

　　• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

　　• Ability to meet daily collection goals

　　• Ability to lift/carry at least 25 lbs.
