  Description

  This employee will provide avionics, airframe, and powerplant technical guidance in the normal operations and maintenance of the T-1A and supporting systems, assistance in the resolution of unusual field problems, interpretation of technical data, instructions in the use of technical data, instruction in the use of support equipment and test equipment, assistance in incorporation of modifications and limited formal training. This position will be responsible for the administration, tracking, and submission of DR’s for the T-1A program.

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING DUTIES. ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS MAY BE IDENTIFIED BY THE ORGANIZATION AND LISTED AS SUCH IN THE EMPLOYEE’S PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL ELEMENTS. VARIOUS TASKS MAY BE ASSIGNED UNDER EACH ESSENTIAL FUNCTION. THOSE THAT ARE LISTED UNDER THE EXAMPLES OF WORK ARE NOT ALL INCLUSIVE; THEY ARE EXAMPLES ONLY AND MAY BE AMENDED OR ADDED TO AS NEEDED BY THE ORGANIZATION.

  Providing instructions, assistance, and evaluations of equipment and system problems to include fault reporting and isolation of T-1A avionics, airframe and powerplant systems or related subsystems.

  Recommending additional training which should be presented to operating command personnel.

  Emphasizing safety precautions which should be taken during operation and maintenance of the T-1A aircraft.

  Dealing with Coworkers/Customer/Public

  DR administration

  EXAMPLES OF WORK

  EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED IN THIS CLASSIFICATION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING TASKS. THESE TASKS MAY BE AMENDED OR OTHER TASKS MAY BE ASSIGNED AS NECESSARY.

  Analyze aircraft avionics, airframe and powerplant maintenance difficulties and recommend changes to operation, maintenance, inspection and training requirements to improve methods of operation and maintenance.

  Assist the operating command in accident investigations, service reporting and material deficiency report evaluations.

  Perform hands-on maintenance on T-1A peculiar support equipment maintained by the COMBS, provided this does not interfere with primary duties.

  Validate the best methods of installing Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins and TCTOs.

  Participate in hands-on tasks when authorized by the FAC and the T-1A Administrator, Maintenance Support.

  Provide interpretations of technical data to include technical orders, ADs, SBs, drawings and wiring diagrams.

  Provide instruction and assistance in removal and installation of aircraft components.

  Provide instruction and OJT training in the operation and maintenance of the T-1A aircraft and support equipment.

  Interface effectively with the Operating Command and T-1A Program Management Office.

  Actively enforce the company’s EEO/Affirmative Action Program.

  Follow all safety procedures and practices as established by the Company and regulatory bodies.

  Actively observe all company rules, regulations and policies.

  EMPLOYEE PERFORMS OTHER JOB-RELATED TASKS AS ASSIGNED AND REQUIRED, AND MAY BE DESIGNATED AS A LEAD FSR, REPORTING DIRECTLY TO THE T-6A MAINTENANCE SUPPORT ADMINISTRATOR. ANY DUTIES/TASKS INCLUDED IN THE EMPLOYEE'S PERFORMANCE EVALUATION ELEMENTS ARE ESSENTIAL TO THAT EMPLOYEE'S POSITION WITHIN THE JOB CLASSIFICATION.

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  The following minimum qualifications have been identified by subject matter expert's (SME'S) who have supervised this position or functioned in the position; they are based on job analysis information supplied by these SME'S. However, if a candidate believes he/she is qualified for the job although he/she does not have the minimum qualifications set forth below, he/she may request special consideration through substitution of related education and experience, demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Any request to substitute related education or experience for minimum qualifications must be addressed to the Director of Human Resources in writing, identifying the related education and experience which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform all essential functions of the position. If a candidate believes he/she needs a reasonable accommodation to meet these minimum qualifications or, if called for an interview, to attend such an interview, the candidate must notify the Director of Human Resources in writing of the need for the accommodation and identify the specific accommodation requested.

  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  Minimum of 5 years recent experience with T-1A avionics, engine and airframe systems/subsystems or similar type aircraft. Specifically, troubleshooting, assembly, operation, repair, installation, test, and use of aircraft airframe and power plant systems/subsystems.

  An FAA Airframe & Power plant License is highly desirable.

  Valid state driver’s license.

  KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  The following skills and abilities are required:

  High degree of tact, patience, diplomacy and ability to work and cooperate harmoniously with military, Government civil service, and Government contract maintenance personnel.

  Knowledge of the learning process and how to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel, including the ability to express thoughts in both oral and written communications.

  Ability to work independently.

  Understand and use the English language both oral and written to communicate information or ideas to another person or persons

  Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, maintenance, instructional or procedural manuals, and engineering drawings or blueprints.

  Write routine reports and correspondence

  Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

  Effectively present information and respond effectively to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

  Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions in planning and organizing.

  Create, enter, retrieve, and print from software packages such as: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; and to interpret drawings, specifications and schematics of aircraft instrument/electronic components desired.

  Understand and comply with contractual requirements.

  Extensive working knowledge in logistics and data information systems.

  WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The diversity of working conditions may range from a standard office type environment where there is no physical discomfort to an environment where inclement weather may subject individuals to severe changes of temperature, less than adequate lighting, dust wind and rain. On occasion, individuals may also be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail, thus requiring the use of adequate ear protection.
