General Summary
Join our Midwest team for an internship where you will assist on aconstruction project with the management, field construction activities,estimating, and documentation of a project. At Granite we work hard, butwe also do fun activities along the way - some construction-relatedfield trips, summer gatherings, and a few Cubs games!
Essential Job Accountabilities
Communicate with Foremen and Superintendent to learn about fieldconstruction operations and to provide support.Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies,subcontractors, inspectors, the local community.Assist with the Project Environmental, Health, Safety requirements.Assist the Project Engineer with approving time cards in HeavyJob.Ensure all equipment and employees are accounted for on timecards.Assist with verifying quantities in FIS (Field Information Systems)and log quantities for cost and revenue tracking.Assist the Project Engineer with generating and distributing dailycost reports (trucking, labor, equipment) to the Project Manager,Foreman Superintendent.Assist with the completion of daily reports documenting both GraniteConstruction and Subcontractor activities.Place necessary material orders, survey requests, locates, etc.Maintain a to-do list and diary.Assist with the calculations of yields of materials used such asconcrete, aggregate base asphalt.Tour jobsite daily with the Project Manager or Engineer to verifyquantities claimed are correct and to stay current on overall jobprogress.Additional responsibilities as needed.Education
High School diploma required and a minimum of 2 (two) years ofeducation from an accredited institution of higher learning such asa college or universityField of Study
Civil Engineering or Construction ManagementWork Experience
Previous construction experience is a plusKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
