　　can verify experience and performance. Applicants hired must be able toobtain a valid drivers license as driving on public roads may berequired. To meet minimum acceptable performance standards whenirrigating, the worker must, after a 10 day conditioning period, move anaverage of at least 48 40-foot sections of 3-inch pipe or 44 40-footsections of 4-inch pipe per hour under normal working conditions.

　　Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to theproduction of alfalfa, potatoes, and possibly grain. The majority of thework activities during the overall contract period, however, will berelated to general farm work/irrigation/crop production.

　　General Farm Work will include the following responsibilities: maintain,drive, attach, and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to tillsoil, plant, cultivate, fertilize, and harvest crops; make minormechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery; remove undesirableand excess growth from crops or farm grounds; remove rocks from field;perform general cleanup of farm areas; drive, load/unload Ag exempt, nonCDL semi/10-wheel trucks; operate vehicle, motor bike, or all-terrainvehicle in the course of performing duties; transport crops from fieldto storage and/or market; workers possessing the proper licensure may beasked to transport other farm workers.

　　Irrigation duties will include the following:

　　Hand lines: connect pipes; check alignment of pipe and adjust for properwater distribution; attach lines to water supply; turn valves to startflow of water; disassemble lines and carry pipes across fields atspecified intervals; move pipes through freshly irrigated crops and/orplowed fields where mud may be deep at times; lift and carry pipesections weighing approximately 40 pounds on a sustained basis.

　　Wheel lines: start gasoline engines and operate controls to move linesacross fields at specified intervals.

　　Other Irrigation Duties: remove pipes/wheel lines from storage and layout/place in predetermined patterns in fields; lubricate, adjust,repair, and replace parts such as sprinkler heads and drive chains usinghand tools; observe revolving sprinklers and adjust to ensure properoperation and uniform distribution of water; disassemble, service, andstore pipes/mainlines after irrigation season.

　　Duties related to the Cutting/Sorting of Seed Potatoes will include thefollowing: Will apply techniques as instructed by the employer to cutand sort potatoes by: using knife to cut potato into sections; placepotatoes on machine that cuts potatoes into sections; push button tostart machinery; tend/ monitor machine to insure proper movement ofproduct; discard diseased/rotting/inferior product and foreign matter;report malfunctions; general cleanup.

　　Duties related to the Packing of Produce will include the following:Will apply techniques as instructed by the employer to: discarddiseased/rotting/inferior product and foreign matter; cleanup aroundconveyors and worksite.

　　Duties related to the Harvesting of Potatoes will include the following:Will apply techniques as instructed by the employer to: remove rocksfrom rows in front of harvesting equipment; discard diseased/rottingproduct, rocks and foreign matter; alert equipment operator of equipmentclogging/malfunctions; aid operator in correct machine performance.

　　Instruction, training, and general supervision will be provided by thefarm operator or a designated employee. However, the worker must performrequired duties without close supervision and listen to, understand, andfollow simple instructions of the employer or supervisor. The workerwill be required to return worn out tools, supplies, and equipmentbefore new ones will be provided. Most duties are performed out of doorsand entail exposure to heat, cold, dust, rain, and other environmentalconditions common in

　　fields, including mosquitoes during certain seasons. The worker mustcrouch, bend, and lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds in thecourse of performing required activities.

　　The worker may be offered work seven days a week, as farm work must beperformed seven days a week. The worker will be required, however, towork the minimum number of hours indicated in the job listing. Theworker may be offered more than the specified hours per day, but is onlyrequired to work the hours specified. The worker may be requested, butwill not be required, to work on his/her Sabbath and/or on Federalholidays.

　　Job Duties may require a split shift when irrigating. Work hours mayvary and there may be periods when little or no work will be availabledue to weather, time of year, and the requirements of the croppingprogram.
