To meet minimum acceptable performance standardswhen irrigating, the worker must, after a 10-day conditioning period,move an average of at least 48 40-foot sections of 3-inch pipe or 4440-foot sections of 4-inch pipe per hour under normal workingconditions.
Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to theproduction of alfalfa, rye, sugar beets, corn and wheat. The majority ofthe work activities during the overall contract period, however, will berelated to general farm work/irrigation/crop production.
General Farm Work will include the following responsibilities: removeundesirable and excess growth from crops or farm grounds; remove rocksfrom field; pick up spilled sugar beets and place intruck/harvester/wagon/cart; maintain/repair fencing; drive, load/unloadfarm trucks and Ag exempt, non CDL semi/10-wheel trucks; transport cropsfrom field to storage and/or market; perform general cleanup of farmareas; operate motor bike or all-terrain vehicle in the course ofperforming duties; workers possessing the proper licensure may be askedto transport other farm workers.
Irrigation duties will include the following:
Hand lines: connect pipes; check alignment of pipe and adjust for properwater distribution; attach lines to water supply; turn on pump; turnvalves to start flow of water; disassemble lines and carry pipes acrossfields at specified intervals; move pipes through freshly irrigatedcrops and/or plowed fields where mud may be deep at times; lift andcarry pipe sections weighing approximately 40 pounds on a sustainedbasis.
Pivots: operate, maintain and repair system; fix tires/gearboxes; cleannozzles/regulators; repair/replace hoses.
Other Irrigation Duties: remove pipes/wheel lines from storage and layout/place in predetermined patterns in fields; lubricate, adjust, repairand replace parts such as sprinkler heads and drive chains using handtools; observe revolving sprinklers and adjust to ensure properoperation and uniform distribution of water; disassemble, service andstore pipes/mainlines/wheel lines after irrigation season; drive tractoron pipe cart trailer.
To meet minimum acceptable performance standards when irrigating, theworker must, after a 10 day conditioning period, move an average of atleast 48 40-foot sections of 3-inch pipe or 44 40-foot sections of4-inch pipe per hour under normal working conditions. Instruction,training, and general supervision will be provided by the farm operatoror a designated employee. However, the worker must perform requiredduties without close supervision and listen to, understand, and followsimple instructions of the employer or supervisor. The worker will berequired to return worn out tools, supplies, and equipment before newones will be provided. Most duties are performed out of doors and entailexposure to heat, cold, dust, rain, and other environmental conditionscommon in fields, including mosquitoes during certain seasons. Theworker must crouch, bend, and lift and carry items weighing up to 100pounds in the course of performing required activities. Job duties mayrequire a split shift, such as 6:00 - 10:00 AM and 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Workhours may vary and there may be periods when little or no work will beavailable due to weather, time of year, and the requirements of thecropping program.
The worker may be offered work seven days a week, as farm work must beperformed seven days a week. The worker will be required, however, towork the minimum number of hours indicated in the job listing. Theworker may be offered more than the specified hours per day, but is onlyrequired to work the hours specified. The worker may be requested, but will not be required, to work on his/her Sabbath and/or on Federalholidays.
