Join the Minnesota Department of Health‘s Facilities Management team in a position which exists to develop, evaluate, and maintain the Facilities Management program by providing advanced level professional guidance for facilities management activities in order to ensure an efficient and safe working environment.
Working as the Freeman Building Facility Manager within the Metro Facility Operations Unit, you will:
Maintain responsibility for critical systems, server room environmental control systems and department wide security systems.
Manage, plan, and coordinate various building services.
Supervise the staff responsible for security, mail, delivery services, lease renewals, shipping and receiving, help desk issues, and office furniture adjustments.
Represent the Department for special projects affecting department leased buildings on the capital complex, such as the electrical redundancy upgrade, Freeman building lobby panel project, light rail project and other building improvements.
Provide back-up facilities management on-call support.
This is a hybrid telework position that will require in-person meetings with external shareholders as well as in-office work in the downtown St. Paul location.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of professional experience of facilities or property management, construction, business administration or related field that includes at least one (1) year of experience leading a team and providing direct supervision to meet an organization’s expectations for productivity and quality of goal accomplishment.
Minimum qualifications to be assessed during the interview process:
Ability to plan, organize, and direct technical and administrative activities of staff.
Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in an emergency.
Sufficient knowledge of financial analysis necessary to monitor budgets and expenditures.
Previous experience in project administration, security, safety, and other administrative matters.
Knowledge of contract procedures, work measurement, and management techniques.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret policies.
Ability to diagnose and solve problems using sound judgment and decision-making skills.
Proficient in formulating and initiating plans, directing their execution, and documenting the work performed.
Strong leadership skills, including the ability to manage, guide, and communicate with staff at all levels.
Master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; Associates degree may substitute for six months of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of applicable federal and state laws.
Knowledge of the Facilities Management Department and its policies.
Familiarity with the policies of the Department of Administration.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand, sit, crawl, climb up and down from a ladder, and lift at least 50 lbs.
