The Facilities Management & Operations (FMO) Supervisor position is located in Vancouver and typically reports directly to the Project Manager.
The Facilities Maintenance and Operations (FMO) Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of all of the FMO services covered by the Project Agreement for the BC Housing Single Room Occupancy (SRO) Renewal Initiative in accordance with both Provincial Health and Safety regulations and Black and McDonald business processes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing and controlling the operations activities for the SRO team. The Facilities Supervisor will prepare and administer the department's daily tasks utilizing the sites' CMMS system to ensure that preventative maintenance tasks, on demand work orders and correctives are responded to and completed in a timely and professional manner.
This position supervises a small team of 4-5 employees and coordinates activities of both Black and McDonald building maintenance staff and various sub-contractors in maintaining, repairing, and inspecting various buildings under the SRO contract. The various maintenance activities include electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, life safety, structural, and other on demand building related maintenance activities throughout the client's facilities.
Duties and responsibilities include the following:
Co-ordinate and supervise maintenance and minor construction activities
Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other subcontractors or departments
Prepare and review budgets schedules to the Project Manager as requested
Requisition of materials and supplies
Resolve problems and implement measures to improve productivity
Make appropriate arrangements for training of workers
Review accuracy of work order content prior to invoicing
Responsible for monitoring and requesting adjustment to adequate staffing levels
Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed and all work is performed in accordance of the company safety policies
Pre-qualify and supervise sub contract trades
Review planned maintenance completion reports for compliance and follow up on any deficiencies
Supervise, co-ordinate, and schedule the activities of staff and contractors
Investigate and report all incidents and near miss incidents

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Post-secondary education in a related fieldWORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
3-5 years of experience in the facilities maintenance industry including supervisory experience
Experience in maintaining and managing building services utilizing contractors and/or in-house staff
Experience implementing process & procedural improvements
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word/Excel/Outlook)
Must have a strong knowledge of building systems, including Building Automation Controls, HVAC, Plumbing, power distribution systems, electrical and mechanical systems
Ability to troubleshoot systems failures and alarms
Strong skills in supervision and problem solving
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent time management skills; ability to shift priorities on an ad hoc basis
Must have a valid and clean non-graduated BC Driver's License and abstract
Available for on call standby duties and emergency out of hours call duties
Expected compensation for this role is a starting pay range between $38-$43/hour dependent on skills and experience.
