  Extrusion Technician: Position Grade C (Entry-level)

  Position Objective

  Responsible for change-over and operation of lines within his/her assigned island. Must be able to maintain good housekeeping, safety, quality, production quality, and must be able to work with other employees in assigned team.

  Authority / Decision Making

  Report any unsafe conditions; Hazards.

  Duties & Responsibilities

  Task and Duties

  Adhere to all plant safety rules and company policy

  Responsible for housekeeping of assigned area

  Responsible for quality in assigned area including proper QC procedures

  Responsible for production in assigned area

  Responsible for production paperwork in assigned area

  Abel to fill in as packer for breaks and when short handed

  Assist with product change in assigned area

  Assist with TPM in assigned area

  Assist with training employees

  Assist with troubleshooting equipment in assigned area

  Work with maintenance on repair of equipment

  Able to fill in during absence of his/her:

  B Technician

  Work overtime as needed

  Able to do master roll change unassisted

  Able to do additional work as requested by supervisor

  Must have regular, reliable attendance and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required.

  Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace.

  Extruders

  Bubble cage.

  Rotating Nips.

  Collapsing frames.

  Winder.

  Treater.

  Hand tools.

  Electronic & mechanical devices.

  Forklift hand jack.

  Tape measure.

  Utility knife & safety (J). knife.

  Physical and Visual Activity Required

  Physical

  Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like, using feet and legs and / or hands arms. Body agility is emphasized. Example: Climb 3 flights of stairs as needed to reach to top of the extruder.

  Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.

  Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist. Example: changing paper in printer, copier machine.

  Kneeling, bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knee. Example: roll changes - lifting either 34 lbs. cores or 55 lbs. shafts (frequency per shift: 18 - 26 times).

  Crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

  Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Example: giving signal, reaching for material or handles on item - moving raw material with forklift.

  Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time. Example: packing a line(s), QC testing, on line inspections, etc.

  Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

  Pushing, using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

  Pulling, using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.

  Lifting, rising objects from lower to higher position, or moving objects horizontally from position. Degree of lifting: 5-50 lbs.

  Fingering, picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.

  Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.

  Feeling, perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

  Talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word. Via face to face or telephone.

  Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db. loss @ 500Hz, 1000Hz, and 2000Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.

  Repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and / or fingers.

  Visual

  Position requires individual to differentiate colors, depth, and perception.

  Must be able to detect visual defects in film.

  Must be able to perform visual inspections involving small defects.

  Must be able to read measurement devices such as tape measurements, pendulum scale, digital displays, etc.

  Work Environment Conditions

  Inside environmental conditions, protected from weather conditions, not necessarily temperature conditions.

  Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to be hard above the noise level.

  Subject to vibration, exposure fluctuating movements of the body.

  Subject to hazards, such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemical, gases high heat.

  Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation and dusts.

  Preferred Qualifications

  High school diploma/GED is preferred

  1 year + Plastic blown film experience as an operator or 2/4 year degree related in the field that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of the position is preferred
