  Job Summary

  The Extension Program Coordinator (EPC) will support and assist in themanagement of the Master Gardener/Master Naturalist volunteer programsand other Agriculture / Horticulture Extension related programs foradults and youth.

  Duties & Responsibilities

  Program Coordination and Development

  Coordinate the planning of educational activities for the programwith collaboration from the County Director or Educator.

  Identify critical priority needs and issues, with the assistance ofother staff, to be addressed through Master Gardener/MasterNaturalist programs.

  Conduct evaluation of program activities and make appropriatechanges or recommendation for continuation or discontinuation of theprogram.

  Provide leadership, as primary contact, to volunteers in support oflocal Master Gardener/Master Naturalist programs and theiractivities.

  Provide leadership for the local Expansion and Review Committee.

  Work with Unit staff, Extension volunteers, and Extension clienteleto create and/or maintain administrative records.

  Disseminate education information provided by Extensionprofessionals.

  Maintain required records and data.

  Provide monthly reports to the County Extension Director.

  Volunteer Recruitment, Training & Development

  Recruit, screen and select Master Gardener/Master Naturalistvolunteers

  Orient volunteers to the philosophy of the Master Gardener/MasterNaturalist programs, risk management, policies, procedures, andmaterials.

  Coordinate volunteer trainings related to program offerings andcontinuing educational opportunities.

  Maintain contact with volunteers on a regular basis through meetingsand correspondence, including email and phone.

  Formulate and implement standard operating procedures for allprogram activities, to ensure the safety and welfare of allvolunteers and participants.

  Marketing & Networking

  Develop and implement a marketing plan and objectives to recruitadult volunteers and youth participants for Master Gardener/MasterNaturalist opportunities.

  Utilize a variety of promotion methods including, personal contacts,social media and printed materials in collaboration with the localMarketing & Communications Extension Program Coordinator in unit 26.

  Network and collaborate with other community organizations to assessneeds and develop programs to meet those needs.

  Organizational Duties

  Participates in professional development opportunities.

  Attends staff meetings as scheduled, and provides updates toExtension staff and Extension Council on accomplishments andactivities.

  Complies with Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity policies andguidelines in all aspects of University of Illinois Extension work.

  Comply with all University of Illinois Extension and USDA policiesand procedures in programs and employment.

  Performs other related duties as assigned.

  Additional Physical Demands

  To perform the functions of this position, the employee will be requiredto perform work both within an office and outside in the communitiesthat are served, and must have the capability to travel from onelocation to the other in a timely fashion. Employee is responsible forsecuring personal transportation. A valid driver\'s license ispreferred. Some work will be required during evenings and/or weekends.When working, the employee may be exposed to a variety of environmentalfactors to include, but not limited to, hot or cold weather, exposure tonoise and allergens, and uneven ground. In performing the functions ofthis position, the employee may be subjected to various mental andphysical demands as well to include, but not limited to, independentlytraveling to and performing work at different locations, lifting andmoving items that may occasionally weigh up to forty (
