PRIMARY PURPOSE OFPOSITION: Under the supervision of the Resident Services Director andRN, the CNA/Resident Assistant performs direct resident care,administers medication and other RN delegated tasks, assists withactivities of daily living, and provides a safe environment in which theresidents live. JOB DUTIES: Assists residents with the followingActivities of Daily Living (ADL\'s): tub bath or shower, perineal care,dental care, personal grooming, dressing and undressing, applications ofmake-up, hearing aids and eyeglasses. Elimination needs includingproviding for and changing protective padding, toileting by offering bedpan, urinal or taking to bathroom, Foley catheter care. Ambulating,assisting with walkers, transferring with gait belt or mechanical lifts.Administer medications to residents. Answers all call lights promptly.Completes all required documentation in a timely and appropriate manner.Communicates any change in condition and/or significant event toResident Services Director and/or RN in a timely and appropriate mannerEncourages active participation of residents in meeting their needs bypromoting individualized care, attending activities, and familyinvolvement Takes and records temperatures, pulse, respirations, bloodpressure, weight, blood sugars and other tasks as assigned. Assistsresidents with meals, including feeding assistance as needed andencourages the use of adaptive devices. Explains all procedures toresidents before carrying them out. Receives assignments andinstructions from the Resident Services Director and/or RN and refers toresident care sheet for specific care needs. Is aware of anddemonstrates proper hand washing, isolation techniques, standardprecautions, food handling, linen handling, and cleanliness of residentareas. Participates in and attends department meetings, in-services, andis responsible for accumulating 15 hours of education to maintaincertification. Light Housekeeping as needed or directed.
