  DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:Primary RoleThis health & safety internship experience will introduce you to the exciting career opportunities in the water and wastewater field at Pennsylvania American Water.The successful candidate will: Learn firsthand how water utilities support communities and provide resiliency and sustainability, Work with a team of professionals to assist with activities related to health & safety for assigned facilities, assist with programs to ensure compliance with all ORM regulations.

  Key Accountabilities * Assist with monitoring and reporting programs to ensure compliance with federal and state health & safety regulations and company standards. * Assist with ORM assessments, audits and inspections at Company facilities and job sites in order to identify hazards and deficiencies, recommend remedial actions and oversee successful implementation of corrective actions. * Assist with development and maintenance of databases and other safety reporting tools to compile, calculate, track, report and clean-up data pertaining to ORM compliance across the state. * Assists with coordination and monitoring of departmental accounting activities, maintaining system databases, running reports, verifying accuracy of figures and computations, researching and responding to discrepancies. * Researches and abstracts information and supporting data in preparation for meetings, presentations, work projects, reports, etc.

  Knowledge/Skills * Detail oriented to conduct thorough analyses and evaluations, render and implement timely decisions and recommendations. * Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple projects and deadlines. * Ability to seek input/feedback and coordinate with staff. * Good communication skills. * Good working knowledge of computer programs, databases and software to support specific assignments. * Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills. * Good analytical and problem-solving skills. * Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  Experience/Education * Enrollment in a health & safety undergrad degree program from an accredited school. * Minimum of 2 years of completed course work.

  Other Requirements * Valid Driver's License and ability to submit motor vehicle background check. * Must be able to submit pre-employment background check.

  Compensation * $18.00/hour
