Position SummaryReporting to ES&H Safety Services/Operations Manager will be responsible for Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Management System elements by contributing to the development and improvement of processes, procedures, methodologies, and systems, including preparation of appropriate documentation, reports, and/or spreadsheets. Undertakes the technical aspects of processing information and data analysis in areas relevant to ES&H function. Supports the GBU function with procedure updates, gap analysis, ES&H proposal documentation and potential travel for project review. This position will be located in Reston, Virginia. The position will begin as full time in the office for systems indoctrination and transition to hybrid (telework) with anticipated scheduled travel of about 15 percent.
ResponsibilitiesContributes to the development of processes, procedures, methodologies, and systems relevant to the work area, including preparation of appropriate documentation of reports.
Provides safety/health technical support and assistance to projects and coordinates safety/health requirements and may support periodic project program review.
Researches, gathers, and develops data to submit reports on Bechtel’s ES&H statistical performance.
Analyzes data to aid in benchmarking and use in submittals of proposals.
Develops and aids in the implementation of processes to meet governmental and Bechtel reporting requirements inclusive to ISO requirements
Recommends improvements to streamline the reporting process and/or web-based data records management system.
Participates in senior-level ES&H meetings to discuss and provide further analysis of findings.
Assesses that applicable corporate, GBU and project-specific safety requirements are integrated into project planning, design, and execution and that projects within the GBU are designed and constructed in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements.
Participates in meetings with customers, functional managers, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of developing safety/health issues which will impact their activities.
Monitors, reviews, and analyzes proposed changes in safety/health laws/regulations, financial institution performance standards, and industry standards/practices potentially impacting GBU operations/projects and provides input and recommendations for addressing such changes.
Works with the GBU ES&H Manager and GBU Manager of Safety Services on addressing and resolving non-compliances
Qualifications and SkillsBasic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in health and safety or a related field from accredited university or college with at least 6 years of experience in e.g. (including preparation of appropriate documentation, reports, or spreadsheets). In lieu of a degree 12 years of relevant experience.Additional Qualifications:Knowledge in a field of science, safety/industrial engineering, or related discipline.
Knowledge of national and international safety/health laws/regulations and regulatory agencies’ processes and responsibilities, industry standards for safety/health performance, and best management practices for minimizing potential safety/health hazards during project execution.
Working knowledge of safety/health enforcement processes in countries where projects currently exist and experience in industry-specific safety/health programs.
Knowledge of project level EH&S activities.
Knowledge of managing safety/health organizations/programs.
Understanding of construction planning and execution.
US citizenship is a requirement.
Knowledge of regulatory recordkeeping requirements (e.g., the definition of a recordable, restricted, or lost-time case as used by regulatory agencies as exemplified by OSHA, DOE,, and EPA).
Capable of working the ES&H safety data systems (IRIS).
