Position Purpose:Responsible for providing and administering environmental, health, andsafety programs and related policies and procedures affecting thecompanys existing and/or proposed environmental health and safetyissues. Acts in a liaison capacity with EH & S and H&S personnelregarding interpretation of all policies and procedures, pertaining totechnical support and guidance on industrial hygiene, reactive andexplosive, OSHA, substance abuse testing, accident prevention, etcthroughout the Mountain Branch. Provides and assists in the training ofemergency response techniques, safety management, risk assessment, etc.to maintain appropriate safety standards throughout the company. PrimaryDuties/responsibilities: * Implement and administer programs pertainingto OSHA, medical surveillance, substance abuse testing to avoidpotential liabilities and maintain a viable workforce at all VES-TSlocations. * Coordinate workers compensation, accident, and injurymanagement programs with facility personnel to determine adverse trendsand develop meaningful productive standards resulting in safe andeffective operations. * Implement industrial hygiene, safety,regulatory and transportation programs as well as modifying existingplans to meet the needs of the facility(s). * Acts as chairperson onimprovement team pertaining to all environmental, health, and safetyprograms. Makes appropriate recommendations on either a national levelor modifications to facilitate the needs at various levels within VES-TSlocations. * Provides guidance to all levels of management regardingutilization of appropriate practices in conjunction with regulatoryrequirements and changes, if necessary. * Provides training inenvironmental, site remediation, reactive chemical operations, emergencyresponse, etc. as needed or requested by local operation sites. *Provides appropriate research and investigation to support thedevelopment of existing and/or potential new environmental,transportation, health and safety policies as determined by managementor required by federal, state, or local governmental agencies. *Approximately 10% travel required.
