We are better together and together We Are Altasciences.About The RoleThis is a mid-level associate position that works both independently and under minimal supervision. Working closely with veterinary and behavioral management, the enrichment associate supports the physical and psychological wellbeing of the animal colony through various daily enrichment.What You'll Do HereDocuments compliance with environmental enhancement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Assists with training of staff on enrichment SOPs.Prepares, distributes, and maintains enrichment items for animals.Attend departmental meetings when department management is unable toattend.Assists with colony data (paper and electronic) as required by regulatory agenciesand company policies.Maintain inventory of enrichment items and notify management of orderingneeds.Provides treatments to animals that are on abnormal behavior intervention.Assists with developing, reviewing, and revising environmental enhancement, behavioral assessment, and socialization SOPs and forms.Assists with developing and evaluating new enrichment items or methods.Assists in the standardization of departmental processes and in the development ofbest practices.Determines suitable social partners and performs animal socializations (i.e. pairs orgroups)Performs behavioral observations/assessments, both of individual animals and groups,when necessary and/or requested.Provides operant conditioning training to animals when necessary and/orrequested.Handles and disposes biological and/or chemical substances and wastes in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.What You'll Need to SucceedHigh School Diploma or GED is required.Previous experience with nonhuman primates is preferred. Previous experience working in animal research is preferred.AALAS Certification at the ALAT level preferred.Intermediate math skills.Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with a wide variety of personnel.Continual GLP Training.Ability to work overtime, weekend, and evening hours, as needed.Wears appropriate PPE in accordance with policies and procedures. PPE may include but is not limited to: N-95 respirator, face mask, safety glasses, goggles, face shield, gloves, lab coat, scrubs, shoe covers, hair bouffant, and arm protectors.What We OfferThe pay range estimated for this position is $19.00 - $25.00 hourly.
