About the Role
Second Nature is looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager, Software to help build the next generation of products and tools for property managers to provide next-level experience for residents. We are looking for a mission driven leader to shape strategy and provide technical leadership to the team.
Key Job Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
Provide strong leadership to a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
Mentor and coach team members, promoting skill development and career growth.
Project Management:
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
Technical Strategy & Guidance:
Act as a partner with the product lead to define technical strategy to solve customer problems.
Offer technical expertise and guidance to the team, ensuring alignment with best practices and architectural standards.
Collaborate with architects and senior developers to make technical decisions.
Code Review and Quality Assurance:
Conduct regular code reviews to maintain code quality, consistency, and adherence to coding standards.
Implement and enforce best practices for testing and quality assurance processes.
Communication and Collaboration:
Facilitate effective communication within the team and across departments.
Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of project requirements.
Problem Solving:
Proactively identify and address technical challenges and bottlenecks.
Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
Resource Management:
Allocate resources effectively, balancing workloads and optimizing team productivity.
Participate in recruitment efforts and contribute to the growth of the team.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of proven experience as a Software Engineer
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a small, high-performing engineering team.
Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript.
Extensive hands-on experience with modern web development technologies, including React, NodeJS, NextJS, and NestJS.
Experience with software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and project management tools.
Solid understanding and experience with applications deployed in cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Familiarity with modern software development tools, version control systems, and continuous integration/delivery pipelines.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to make sound technical decisions and provide mentorship on software design and architecture.
