Job Title: Employment CoachFLSA Status: Full Time - non-exemptReports to: Employment Pathways ManagerSchedule: FT, M-F 8:00am-4:30pmSupervises: N/AStart Date: 7/15/23Rate of Pay: $24.15/hourClose Date: 1/20/2024Benefits: Standard; Full-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for butnot limited to the following:Health, vision, dental, life as well as voluntary life and disabilityinsuranceSick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual andavailability begins at hire)Vacation benefit - 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire butmay not be used until the completion of six months of employment)One floating day off for use (accrued immediately, and again annually,but may not be used until the completion of the initial three-monthintroductory period of employment)Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service)Voluntary Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan (403(b)plan)Function:The Employment Coach provides trauma informed and strengths-based job coachingservices to individuals who are marginalized, low income or experiencinghomelessness. This position responds to referrals made to the program,orients potential participants to the nature of the coaching partnership. Thecoach utilizes assessment tools and other web based or local resources to helpparticipants identify appropriate short term and long-term career plans toimprove career options and outcomes. Focus areas for coaching include careerexploration/assessment, resume writing, goal setting, interviewingskills, digital skills building and job search strategies, and sustainingemploDuties and Responsibilities:Career Identification and Employment CoachingReceive referrals, coordinate initial meeting, and explain EmploymentCoaching services with potential program participants.Provide Career Direct testing and analysis of assessment.Provide coaching and access to Career One Stop, Udemy and othertechnology-based resources.Provide career focused coaching for participant self-development.Prepare participants for employment (resume building, interview skills,connection to employment).Connect program participants to internal and community continuing educationscholarships as applicable.Recruit employers and provide employment placement services to programparticipants.Provide ongoing follow-up and support to program participants up to one yearfollowing employment.
General ResponsibilitiesWorks with Coordinator to develop intake, assessment, and data pathways toensure optimal data collection for reporting and outcomes.Maintain high quality record keeping including statistics, outcome measuresand end of month reporting.Network with community partners, employers and government agencies forreferrals, resource connections and employment options.Performs other duties as required
Qualification and Education Requirements:Bachelor's degree in human service-related field, required. Three years ofexperience in experience in human services, education, workforcedevelopment or related setting, may be accepted in lieu of bachelor'sdegree. High School Degree/GRE required.Demonstrated ability to work with individual from diverse and economicallydisadvantaged backgrounds.Demonstrate a strong understanding of the barriers specific to marginalizedpopulations in the community.Knowledge of pre-employment and employment maintenance skills, preferred.Knowledge of community education, training, and work experienceopportunities for homeless individuals, preferredService oriented mindset, with the ability to establish and maintaineffective working relationships with participants, staff, and funders.Ability to adopt and apply strength based and trauma informed approachutilizing person first language.Experience with daily, detailed data entry and reporting.Stro g computer skills including web-based databases, internet research andadvanced knowledge of Microsoft applications.Excellent business writing, public speaking, and group facilitation skills.Deadline oriented with strong ability to follow through on tasks with littlesupervision.Flexible team player with a commitment to personal and professionalaccountability.Proactive self-starter with excellent organizational skills and proven abilityto balance multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail.Successfully pass background checkValid CO driver's license and ability to pass The Salvation Army drivingrequirementsBe supportive of The Salvation Army's mission.
