GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Provides linkages to employment and income benefits in order to promote housing stability for program participants.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates with area employers to promote employment for veteransConducts cold-calls to employers to seek employment opportunitiesObtains and maintains certification of SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) Provides client access to benefits through SOAR Outreaches and coordinates with local safety councils, career and technical schools, and chambers of commerceWorks closely with veteran advocates and participants for employment planningWorks closely with the program management to exchange data and outcomes per continuum of care policies and grant requirementsProvides advocacy and referrals to community resources as applicable Maintains confidential client files and records Compiles monthly statistics and reports on employment Uses client centered model and conflict resolution practicesUses Motivational Interviewing techniquesProvides crisis intervention when required.Attends internal team meetings and any other pertinent meetings within the community.Works cooperatively with all veterans program staff to ensure effective services delivery.Identifies gaps in services and reports them to Program DirectorCompletes other tasks as assigned by Program Director.Complies with the agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state, and local requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
Willingness to learn and apply best practice models as appropriate
Valid Ohio Driver's License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability if applicable; reliable transportation
Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal back ground check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation).
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related degree preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Experience working with low income, homelessness and veteran populations preferred
